Question about Intertherm Heating & Cooling

Refusal to start

I have tried now two times to start my air conditioner and all I get is an electronic buzz down in the compressor. I have tried shutting of and then reengaging the 2 circuit breakers. One inside and one outside. I'm not sure how old this thing is. It came with the triple-wide trailer about 8 (?) years ago. The Model # is S3QA 048KA Serial # S3DU20805421. Says "Nordine" on the very bottom of the label. It's hotter than H--- here and very humid. I have breathing problems and really NEED this thing to work. Can you help me?

I hired someone to come out and look at it. A mouse had gotten in somehow and chewed wires. Also shorted out (sorta) the contactor. Fried mouse - no air conditioning.

It sounds like the compressor isnt starting just because the lights on doesnt mean it is actually on.
If it is the compressor thats making the buzz heres what to look for when you start to hear the buzz does the fan slow down and then speed up after the buzzing stops? If it does your compressor is locked up you can try to replace the capacitor on the unit. If that dont work I wouldnt spend the money to replace the compressor too much money.

Compressor will not start.

sounds like the compressor is shorted out, or froze up. the 1 second buzz you hear is the compressors internal overload protector kickin in and shutting the comp. down. its a self resetting circuit breaker. for the most part, the compressor is out and needs replaced.

My air conditioner is on but not blowing cold air and buzzes

The compressor is not starting. The buzzing noise you hear is the compressor trying to start and then the thermal overload trips. When it cools it will try to start again. Could be a bad capacitor or the compressor is bad. These two units need to be tested to see which one is bad. A capacitor is inexpensive. If it's the compressor it will be cheaper to buy a new AC.

Have a janitrol cple24. Replaced both outdoor fuses and contactor and still have buzzing. What else could be the problem?

does the unit work properly and still buzz? loose mounting screws on a contactor will create a buzzing noise
is the compressor humming -try a hard start capacitor/boost capacitor
is there 220v at the contactor

Compressor problem?

The buzzing is your compressor trying to start. It is going off on internal overload caused by heating up of the motor windings. If you have an amp meter you could check the amp draw of the comp against the locked rotor amps listed on the tag You could try to have someone test your run capacitor, which looks like a can. Could be round or oval with wires coming off it. Or try a hard start capacitor and relay to bust it loose if compressor rotor is stuck. If that doesn't do it the comp is bad.
