A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

The system restore you are using is the windows microsoft one and is unable to do a FULL system restore.
The whole process is listed in part of the manual but just in case you cannot find them then you can get the part that you are interested in on the COMPAQ SITE
You are interested in pages 8 to10 it may be that you already have a recovery partition set up which would help you greatly.
This involves repeatedly pressing F11 whilst the computer is booting up and then selecting RECOVERY MANAGER as outlined in this manual. Then selecting ADVANCED OPTIONS / RECOVERY / NEXT.
with any luck that should get you sorted but do remember this process could wipe your personal information so get that off the computer BEFORE you do any of the above.
If you get stuck post back in this thread and I will see what else can be done

Sounds like you've got a bad driver from Windows update which is not a first. Firstly turn off automatic windows updates so it doesnt auto-update again. Where you re-installed the drivers from in Device Manager choose uninstall and also there will be an option to delete the files associated with the driver, get rid of those. Heres a link straight to the HP website http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=au&lang=en&product=3636382 there is 3 drivers to choose from either look in device manager or it doesnt matter if you try the wrong 1 it just wont find the hardware. If this all works fine turn back on windows update but choose let me decide when to download and instal then uncheck the wireless update, this will hide it from all future updates. Please let me know how it all goes i still have a few more ideas if not. Cheers from Scott

It depends on which OS and software came with the computer and the state of the computer. (In all cases do not use the Microsoft System Restore. This will return a computer to the last known good state (revert to a prior version of the registry) but not to the factory installed state.)
To do a recovery without starting Windows:
Some Vista and Win7 machines came with HP Recovery Manager. Press F11 during bootup (BIOS prompt) then if the hard drive is accessible, the Recovery Manager will start. Follow the on-screen directions. (If you changed the OS from originally installed version or repartitioned the drive, this is not available.)
For all other OS and recovery software options, you will need an external (USB) optical drive. The preferred option is a R/W DVD drive to create the recovery media yourself. (HP will send you recovery discs for a fee if the machine is under warranty.)
If you can enter Windows, click Start
