Question about Fantom Titanium Hard Drive

1 Answer

Drive Not Ready

The drive is working fine. I go to bed and the automatic backup from the C drive to this drive kicks off. I see in the morning that the backup has not finished, the drive has a solid red light and the computer is frozen. I turn off the USB drive and the computer unfreezes and all other work continues. running XP media edition on a Dell core 2 desktop, 2 GB memory, 250 GB C drive, all USB ports are version 2. Power settings are to not turn off hard drives ever, do not let windows turn off USB to save power. I don't have a clue. The C and USB drive are running NTFS and scandisk shows no errors. Diskmaster shows little or no fragmentation. Similar problem to above. After backing up data overnight, found red light on in morning. PC is working fine, but hard drive is no longer recognized or accessible. Tried rebooting, hard drive makes low buzzing noise for a few seconds, but nothing happens. Light is blue after re-booting. Any chance of getting it working again, and more importantly data salvage?

Backup tape(RDX) getting ejected automatically after sometime while backup job is not running.

RDX tape drives, by HP (tandenberg)
did you reload all that HP software and drivers fresh?
did you try fresh tape.
i replace the tape drive, (new , used, NOS , from whom, ebay)

i bet the tape drive, logs errors, if you look,
the driver software will log that, and you can see why the tape
failed, my guess, damage to the tape, end to end.
try fresh new tape, NEW in a box, not used.

Cloning Disks

Cloning an existing hard drive, whether it is a HHD or SSD can sometimes be very frustrating. Using the disk drive manufacture's cloning software does not always work, it may report allocation size, block size or sector size as being in compatible between the two disks. I have spent a great deal of time trying the different suggestions on the web to fix this problem and none seemed to work, that is, until I came across HDCLONE.
This is a free software utility that automatically corrects these incompatibility issues. The software can be found at . I have used this software to clone disks for two different laptops and I have not had any problems. I think the only limitation is the destination disk for the cloning must have a larger capacity than the capacity on the original disk. I cloned from an installed hard disk to a USBSSD and to a HDD/SSD hybrid disk and the cloned disk booted up and worked fine.
This software can be used either to clone an existing small disk to a larger disk, or making a backup disk that can be installed and used if necessary.
The cloning process from a 500Gb to a 1Tb disk took most of the day, so I would suggest you start the process when you go to bed so I will be completed by morning.
Let me know how the software worked for you.

Toshiba automatic backup portable drive

If the power light is not on, test the power supply or get another power supply to test with. If the power light is on, try the drive in another computer.

03 Kia Rio will not engage into drive when cold (Automatic)

This is a situation of low pressure,as you warm up the vehicle the transmission fluid is warmer which allow the torque convertor to produce pressure to collapse the clutch pack and transfer power for a shift gear, your solution is a torque convertor and a front pump

221 GB Free on MyBook - Error states not enough space for backup

Is the drive formatted as FAT32?

If so, and your backup is more than 4GB, it will not be able to write the file to the drive.

Open a Command Prompt (Start | Run | CMD) and at the prompt type:
Where V: is the drive letter of your My Book.

That will convert it to NTFS and it will be able to handle files larger than 4GB.

The first thing that comes to mind is the Firelite has become full and can not accept any more backup data.
Delete the data on the Firelite and try running your backup again. If it works then that was the problem.
The backup software should have a configuration setting somewhere that allows it to automatically delete older data and keep it from filling up.

Drive Not Ready

Sounds like the enclosure is failing, the drive has bad sector/blocks or there may have been a breif dip in power which has effected the opration, locking up the drive and the computer while it was attached. Hope this helps.
