Load Paper indicator problem - Canon LBP5000

My new Canon LBP5000 keeps having this button flashing. I have now been able to work out it is the Load Paper indicator and it's flashing because it thinks the wrong size paper is loaded.
How do I stop it, clear the problem and start again? Can't see anything in on-line manual. It all started because I was trying to print an envelope. The job isn't in the print list so I can't cancel it. I have switched the computer on and off several times and it just flashes all the time and I can't print anything.

There doesn't seem to be a reset type button.

Thank you - there is no cancel button on the printer - that's the problem. I will try unplugging the printer. So far, I've only done switch off and back on. It keeps happening and is very annoying.

I thought it should know about manual feed without telling it. There is even a clever hole on the print that you slot the envelope into and it should just print.

    Thanks.

Thanks. I unplugged it for about 15mins. Switched it back on just now and the light is still flashing. Still unable to print. :-(

Hand writing out the envelopes is definitely the way to go

You should have a cancel button on the printer press that and hit cancel job. if that does not fix it unplug the printer for a few min and it will clear. make sure when you send an envelope to one of these you select the right paper type and "manual feed" in your printer options so you do not cause this again.

leaving it unplugged will for sure wipe the momory of the job. And FYI don't assume the computer knows anything EVER. If in doubt set it manually :)

Lbp5000 two sides print

LBP5000 doesn't have a duplexer for automatic double sided printing, so it's maual duplex.

You have to print on one side, then put the paper in the paper tray again. Take note of the pictogram that shows a printed page with the corner turned over, this indicates wich way you put the paper in (for the print you are about to make, not what is already on the paper)

Machine flashing load paper message even though paper is loaded

Hi ...

Most of the time this problem comes when the paper is not loaded correctly. Follow the below instructions to load papers to the cassette and I am sure this will resolve your problem. I will keep monitoring your responce and if required, i'll look for a work arround.

Follow this procedure to load paper / envelope in the cassette:
  1. Pull out the cassette from the machine.

  2. Remove the cover from the cassette.

  3. Fan out the sheets of paper so that they do not stick together.

  4. Align the edges of the paper.

  5. If the cassette is not yet extended, use your thumb to press the tab (indicated by the pink circular outline) and release the latch.

  6. After the latch is released, remove your thumb from the tab. Then extend the cassette until a click is heard.

  7. Load paper on the upper-right corner of the cassette with the print side facing down.

    Note:
    * Since the Credit Card sized paper, Canon Photo Stickers, and Legal sized paper cannot be fed from the cassette, load them in the auto sheet feeder (ASF).
    * When loading A5 or larger sized paper (nonstandard-size paper: 203mm / 8inches or more in length), extend the cassette by pinching the tab.

  8. Grasp the paper guide (A) and align it to the long edge of the envelope stack (2). Align the front edge of the paper stack in the same way (3).

  9. Close the lid and push the cassette all the way into the printer.

  10. Press the <Open> button and pull out the extension completely.

  11. Press the <Feed Switch> button to turn on the Cassette light.

    Note:
If the Auto Sheet Feeder lamp lights, press the Feed Switch button to light the Cassette lamp.
If the Cassette lamp does not light even after pressing the Feed Switch button, Paper Source in the printer driver may be set to the setting other than the Feed Switch button.

  3. If the edges of the envelope are inflated or are curling, place the envelope on a flat surface. With a pen, press down while moving it from the center toward the edges of the envelope.

Canon s520

The number of orange flashes between green flashes indicates the type of error, as outlined below. Check the cause and take the appropriate action. Two flashes: Out of paper, paper jam or paper feed error Replace the paper correctly and press the RESUME/CANCEL button. If paper has jammed in the printer, clear the jam and press the RESUME/CANCEL button. Three flashes: Paper jam If paper has jammed in the printer, clear the jam, replace the paper in the printer correctly and press the RESUME/CANCEL button. Four flashes: Empty ink tank One of the ink tanks is empty. Replace it. If all of the above won't help, unplug the printer from the power cable, wait a while, and plug in. If that didn't fix you, I guess it's time to get in touch with canon, or a repair lab you trust. Good luck
