Question about Bose Companion 2 Series II Multimedia Speaker System (2-Piece)

Crackling sound coming from speaker w/controls

I just bought the bose companion 2 speakers yesterday and immediately the side w/the controls would randomly produce a crackling/static-like sound. the wires are securely connected. should i return or can this be fixed? pls help!

    yes, i connected it to an ipod and the speaker w/the controls is still producing that crackling sound.

Are you sure this is not coming from the component and not the speakers? what head unit are you using

    can you connect it to an ipod or other mp3 player so we can make sure it is the connector. when the music is running spin the mini rca jack to determine if this is the issue

    dont even hesitate take them back. they are Bose and you spent alot of money and there should be no problem replacing them.. the number is 1-800-999-2673 they do not like bad product in the field.

    if you have a chance make sure you call Bose and make them aware. This will assist them in keeping your product the top of the line. Bose is made in America and we need all the constructive criticism we can get

Press the bottom rubber pad - 2 areas will depress - screws are UNDER this area - open screws by pushing screwdriver through the depressions - this will help remove TOP silver plate with BOSE embossed on it - remove - clean inner edges of dial with alcohol - test by turning on - then put back the top you removed - make sure to put the LENS back on LED ( Red/green) & the tip of the lens will go through opening so it rests on the hole where LED shows on top.

Bose Companion 3 Speakers make a popping noise.

No solution i'm afraid. But i have the exact same problem. Terrible cracking interference. Unplug everything else in the house and they still crackle. Very annoying. I just bought Bose Companion 2 speakers which I don't know how to connect to my HP Pavillion desktop PC. The pdf instruction booklet does not help. There are multiple jacks (6) at the back of the tower...

You need to connect the speakers to the green jack in your PC.

Check your system sound volume setting to make sure it's not set to MUTE or the volume slider is on or near the lowest position - you don't specify what system you have on the PC so I can't give you an exact pointer but Volume Control generally is found under Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment.

Have bose Companion 2 speakers. Can't get any sound.

if you mean that you cant get any sound on your computer
control panel sounds and audio,volume you can adjust the volume or advanced,speakers select appropriate speakers or
audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have selected the right speakers or
control panel,administrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll to sound,video and game cotrollers could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers

Bose Companion 5 Speaker System won't work

check if the volume control needs to be replaced. volume controls gets bad in due time coz of the carbon layer which gets thinner and thinner till it gets cut off

Crackling sound

That sounds like an internal fault on your Bose system.

Leave the Bose unplugged from power and from computer for one hour, to get rid of electrostatic charges accumulated inside capacitors.
If that does not get rid of the problem, then there is an internal fault, either a short on speaker wiring, or a fault on the internal amp circuit board.

Left speaker sometines has no sound? Please help

I bought a set of Bose companion 3 speakers and the darn RCA jacks are cheap and wiggling loose. The cost to send back and repair out of warranty is about $125!! BOSE companion speakers may sound good, but for my money, I'd rather go with more reliable computer speaker systems like Creative or Logitech. BOSE IS WAY TO OVER-RATED, but HEY....they suckered ME out of $275!!!
