Acer sent me these instructions.

The other way before Vista starts up is to tap ALT + F10 (at the same time repeatedly) when the computer is first switched on.. The window of opportunity is very small, so this may take a few attempts

Once you have tapped both the ALT and F10 repeatedly, you may see a screen showing:

“Edit Boot options for Microsoft Windows Vista”

If you see this, unfortunately, you have missed the window of opportunity, and you need to restart, and try again.

If you see this:
“Edit Boot options for Windows Setup” OR “Edit Boot options for Acer eRecovery”

Then it indicates that you have tapped the ALT + F10 correctly, and all you now need to do is press “Enter” and the Recovery program should load on your screen after a short pause..

In some cases, you may need to remove the battery (for notebooks only) and run the machine directly from the mains.

The Disk2Disk recovery feature allows you to recover the system without recovery CDs.

This will return your system to factory settings and will delete everything stored on the machine.
If possible we strongly advise backing up anything important on your machine before starting the recovery process.

On the first screen that says something like "F2 to enter BIOS" and "F12 to change boot order", hit F10 (maybe Alt+F10 or Ctrl+F10, not sure) and it should pull up the recovery console.. just read carefully, the only option there might be reformatting C:

Acer Aspire 6920 Restarts in Normal mode and works only in safe mode

Sounds like the MBR ( boot files) are corrupted. Try formatting the hdd before you instal again. I'm sure you have a restore sector on the hdd in which case, if you have done anything to that then you'll need to have the restore disc set which usually comprises of the restore disc and the drivers disc. Either way....just make sure you format c and not d which is usually the resore partition. Good luck

I DONT KNOW HOW TO RESTORE MY ACER BACK TO FACTORY SETTINGS

The Acer Aspire One is a netbook, not a laptop. A netbook is a smaller, scaled-down version of a laptop. It does not have the memory capacity or graphics of a regular laptop. It also lacks a CD drive, which means you cannot restore the Acer Aspire One with restore discs. Instead, the netbook has a built-in factory restore feature. You can reset the Acer Aspire One to factory settings just using your keyboard. Only restore your netbook to factory settings if you cannot fix the problem any other way.

Save any files or folders on your Acer Aspire One with flash drives. Drag and drop files onto the icon of your flash drive. Go to "Start" > "Restart" to reboot your netbook. Hold down "Alt" and "F10" when you see the Acer logo on the screen. The recovery menu will load. Hit "Enter" and then "Next" to see your recovery options. Choose "Factory Restore" to set your netbook back to factory settings. Follow the instructions on the screen. Choose your time zone and language when the customization menu appears. Reboot the netbook when you are prompted. Restore your saved files from the flash drive.

Acer aspire 6920 laptop some times automatic restart. in normal mode hang when connected ac adapter

Hi,

It appears that some of the the Windows files are corrupted on your computer, you can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as
soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction.

NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

I bought the Acer 6920 factory restore CD's to set it back to factory default but when i run it it gets to the third disk at 90% and then says Restore Failed and gives me this Error code 0xd000000a. Does...

It stands to reason that if it ran the other 2 it should run all of them. that tells me its probably not your system. The disk could be faulty. I would check with manufactuer.

How to boot my laptop to its factory setting. its an acer 6920 n it has vista

Take a closer look at the boot up time to find something like
F9 to restore
and press that key during boot up. CAUTION you will loose all your data, so take back-up of your files and write down your passwords and other settings.

Reboot the system and on restart press the F8 key to access the advanced system options. Select repair my computer to start the system recovery partition.
This option will restore the system to factory settings and some files or programs will have to be reloaded.

I reinstall VISTA on my laptop(ACER 6920) because the language is chinese (clean install) and I also downloaded all the drivers and applications from ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire...

Acer erecovery looks for the hidden partition as it is used for restoring the system back to factory defaults. If the hidden partition is not available, the software will not install.

Nothing to be worried about. You will not even need that software.
