Question about Samsung Digimax S800 Digital Camera

My lens is stuck

I have been experiencing problems for some time with my lens. It has needed help to retract. The problem has become worse over the last few weeks and yesterday it would not retract at all. I kept switching it on and off but nothing happened. My husband eventually managed to force it to retract. Now the lens will not come out at all. I am getting the same three bleeps and nothing happens. Unfortunately, whilst on holiday last year, I lost the instructions so I can't consult the troubleshooting page.

Can anyone help me?

LENS DID NOT RETRACT PROPERLY

Sorry, but there is no safe DIY fix for your lens problem, and any attempts at homebrew repair will likely make the problem even worse. I suggest that you take it to a local camera shop (NOT the camera department at a chain store) or contact the customer service/support folks a Kodak.com to arrange repairs. Be sure to get a firm price before you commit to anything though. The fix can approach the cost of a new camera, and repairs typically only carry a 30-day warranty.

Lens error

There is a possibility that a bit of grit or debris has got stuck in the retraction mechanism or the lens has been knocked out of alignment.

The camera will have switches inside to tell it when the lens is retracted or extended and if it doesn't make contact within the expected time then it will give this error.

If the there is no warrantee or you dont mind voiding it then I would suggest carefully disassembling the camera and turning the retraction motor by hand to see where the problem is.

Please comment again if you discover anything.

Good luck

Lens stuck out, camera won't switch on, Canon G9

I have fixed my g9 twice with the lens problem. 1st time I dropped the camera on asphalt lens closed. Turned on, lens stuck and not forcusing or retracting. Solution was to press lens against a door frame and push as I turned off the camera...it worked. The next time, the lens was extended and would not retract I had to place the camera on its back on a book while I used a small block of wood and a small hammer. It worked camera is working fine. After both cases, it took about 5 shots to calibrate the auto focus.

Try helping the camera to retract using your fingers while you turn camera off, try also helping lens to full extent if they don't.if you do not succeed in this simple way the camera lens must be taken apart and reassembled at a repair shop.

Lens/focus err

I had the exact same problem in September 2007 (must be built in obsolence). I sent mine to Fuji's repair center to get repaired. Unfortunately, it becomes a decision of whether to get it repaired or buy a new one (repair cost ~$160). The kicker is now the flash will not work. I get a message/warning of camera shake. The manual says it's something to do with the shutter speed but no mention on how to correct it. So it becomes another decision of do I throw more money at it (send back for repair) or bite the bullet and buy a new camera.

Good luck!

Lens will not retract

It sound like a problem with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended) Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse. Good luck!
