Question about Casio MS-80S Calculator

The minus sign is encased in a black square.

On most Casio calculators you must type: '175 x 20 % -' (and '+' is for adding a percentage)

You should connect the pump with 3 wires: one is phase, one is zero and one is earth. It does not matter which is phase or which is zero. when there is a square sign on the pump this means the pump is double isolated and you only have two wires, and it does not matter how to connect to mains.

Calculators have two similar signs: the regular minus sign for subtraction, and the negation (change sign) sign. When applied, the latter changes the sign of the quantity to which it is applied. The negative sign is the same as the minus sign. It is above the [+] and below [x] . Using the minus button will have the same effect and will negate the number you press after it.

- If you enter 12 ( (-) 13) the calculator interprets it as 12* (-13) and calculates -156.
- If you enter --12, the calculator displays Ans--12, where Ans is the last result calculated. If Ans happens to be 0, the new result is obviously the one you are expecting. But if Ans holds a non zero value, this is incorrect.

The calculator does not have a solve program, but you can still use it to solve the quadratic equation with a little effort. If you know the therory skip toward the end.

Let aX^2+bX+C=0

1. First calculate the discriminant usually called Delta and given by

Delta =b^2 -4*a*c store the value in the variable D

If Delta is positive you have two roots X1 and X2 given by

X1=(-b+square root of Delta)/(2*a)

X2=(-b- square root of Delta)/(2*a)

If Delta is equal to 0, X1=X2=-b/(2*a)

If Delta i negative, no real solutions exist

You only solve if Delta is positive or equal to 0.

Putting in the values of a, b, and c

value of a (put you number) [SHIFT][STO] A

value of b (put your value) [SHIFT][STO] B

value of c (put you value) [SHIF][STO] C

[ALPHA] B [X^2] -4[x][ALPHA] A [x][ALPHA] C [=]

Value of delta is displayed. If it is positive, you store its square root in D

I have a Casino MS-80S and yea, the percentage works different. As example to take 100 and subtract 10%, this is what I do: 100 X 10% - and then I get the answer 90 after I press the minus key. To add the percentage instead, 100 X 10% + will give me an answer of 110, after I press the plus key.

I have a Sony DCR-TRV30. Your camara is probably similar. On the bottom left outside corner of mine, there are two buttons, labeled "exposure" and "program AE," and a small thumb wheel above them. Set the indicator to "camera" and open the screen. Push the "exposure" button and a light grey rectangular screen with a minus sign on one end and a plus sign on the other will appear near the top left corner of the screen. Rotate the thumb wheel so that the small black square in the rectangular screen will move from the "+" side towards the "-" side while the image on the screen gets darker.
