The temperature for the pool on my Aqualink System is off; it is saying the water is much warmer than it actually is. It appears the thermometer that reads the temperature to the system is broken. How...

There are two possibilities for this error. Either the temperature sensor is defective or the units board is not reading it right. Here are a few suggestions to determine the cause.

1. If your system has two temperature sensors you could switch the connections and if the temperature is still off then it is the board. If the display is correct then the sensor is defective.
2. The manual may have a table of resistance versus temperature that you could use to test the sensor with an ohm meter.
3. If you call Jandy technical support at 800-822-7933 they should be able to help you determine what is wrong.

I hope this helps

Have a 3.5 year old Jandy Aqualink RS 4 --- the air temp is reading correctly (78 F) but the pool temp is reading (201 F). What could this issue be? Pool sensor gone bad? If so, how do I repair or replace...

It is most likely not a bad reading on the on the display.

One culprit of a false temp reading could be:
If the temperature sensor is installed after the heater and the circulation pump is clogged or failing, this would allow super heated water to reach the temperature sensor and give you that reading. However, most pool/spa heaters have a high limit switch that would shut down the heater @ 150 degrees F. So this is also unlikely.

The most reasonable answer is to replace the temperature sensor.

If you refer to page 22 in this manual http://www.jandy-downloads.com/pdfs/Allbutton_manual.pdf
you will see that the temperature sensor is installed on terminals 5 and 6.
Trace these wires. They will goto a thermowell (which holds the temperature sensor) either in the pool plumbing, or to a temperature sensor in the heater itself. Temperature sensors when in the heater are located typically above the inlet/outlet header. There will be some disassembling required to access it in this case.
If it is in the heater and you need more help, e-mail me @ adamh@newconceptchem.com

Please take the time to give me a positive rating on this post if I have helped.

Thanks
adam

Aqualink RS4 Water temperature reads 120 - obviously wrong.

No but this sensor is easy to replace. Just pull the sensor from the pipe by loosening the staniless steel clamp that holds it in the pipe. Then follow the wire back into the Aqualink box and unplug. Get a new one at your local store and replace. It's a common problem and you should be able to do it with ease.

you either have a bad temperature sensor (check the wires for damage) or a bad circuit board. I would recommend replacing the temp sensor first. If that doesn't work, pull the board and take it and have it tested.

I have all Hayward equipment on my pool and have a digital pool/spa heater control box (Poolboss) inside my house that displays the water temperature. The display is showing the water temperature is 180...

You will have a small wire comming from the main box by the equiptment that will go to the pipe between the pump and the filter. It will connect to a piece in the pipe that is held in place with a stanless steel clamp. This is the heat sensor for the control and has gone bad. It is simple to replace and farley inexpensive. That should fix you up, good luck.
