Help with my 1994 Yamaha 150Hp

Hello I just bought a new boat (used but new to me) and having a few issues. When im in ideal the motor runs fine until I go over 4800rpm. when at that rpm the motor surges as if it needs gas or not firing on ALL 6. As I attempt to go faster the alarm goes off. when I pull back the alarm goes off. tryand go faster for 15 min then the alarm goes off. water pump is coming out like a race horse or fire hose. ive change the fuel line and all gas stuff. I Changed the both thermostats plugs and still had issue. I was told by a Yamaha dealer it was an electrical issue possibly the CDI? Im not sure what it is. im going to change the water pump to see if that's it. could it be the CDI??? Also when the Yamaha TACH goes off it illuminates red. the tach has the rpm and tilt meter. it also has 2 circles one to the right is a sold circle and the one to the left is a hollow circle. its for the oil and not temp correct??? please help I just want to go fish. thanks

Outboards have thermostats...the tattle tale can be pouring water and the engine still overheat if the thermostat is stuck or airlocked.

1994 Yamaha 150HP Outboard

Good Afternoon BayouNola,
This Sounds Like A Loose Connection Problem,
The Tach Is Directly Related To The Charging System,Please Check Your Battery Terminals ,Clean And Secure Tightly To The Battery,
Unplug The engine Electrical Harness Check Clean And Re plug,
Check The Main Fuse For Corrosion And Rectify If Necessary,
If The Engine Was Getting Hot The Alarm Should Be A Continuous Alarm, If It Is a Intermittent Alarm It Is Oil Related !
If In Any Doubt Run With Pre Mixed Fuel,( 500 Ml's In 25 Ltr's Fuel) Until The Problem Is Solved.
Good Luck Gordon

Good Morning Joe,
Please Send Serial No Of Your Motor So I Can Give You Correct Spark Plug For That Engine.
There Are Two Different Plugs Used On Different Models and The Engine Won;t Run Correctly If The Wrong Plug Is Used.

How do you set the timing on a yamaha warrior 350 atv

hello, get piston up on tdc, hold finger on spark plug hole turn engine untill finger blows off, that should be compression stroke. take screwdriver in hole make sure piston is all the way up, take timing cover off top gear, there is a v mark inside the motor , make sure gear marks and timing chain is all aligned upp, timing chaing should have a different colored link, aligned this with mark on gear-chain and the mark on the motor, it looks like a v or a point, you have to remone the top gear cover to see this, once they are all aligned it should be in time, piston has to be up all the way on compression stroke, really its pretty simple....

Need diagram of a force 150hp outboard motor

To winterize a Force outboard you should start the engine and remove the fuel line. Remove the air box and while the engine is running rev up the engine a bit and spray the fogging oil into the throat of each carberator when the engine is about to run out of fuel. keep spraying the fogging oil until you see thick smoke coming from the exhaust area. The exhaust comes out of the center of the prop. When you see the blue smoke then keep spraying and let off the throttle and choke the engine so it dies. Stabilize or get rid of your fuel in the fuel tank and you can let it sit like that for the winter. Leave the outboard in the down position so that any water will drain by gravity out of the prop. When you want to use it next spring just hook up fresh fuel, squeeze the fuel bulb and fire the engine up. It will smoke for a few seconds until that fogging oil burns out of there but it will be ready to run.
