Question about Epson Expression Home XP-310 All-in-One Printer/Copier/Scanner
The replace print message came on about three weeks after we set up the computer which is still under warranty. Felt that this was unusually short time for ink refill, but figured the cartridges that came with the printer were not very full, which was verified by customer service. When I removed the color cartridges, there was ink all over the place even mixing colors. I was told by customer service to replace the used cartridges with brand new oem cartridges, and call back. He said the only way to take advantage of the warranty was for a hardware failure. I'm a techie myself, but not so much with printers. I looked the problem up on the internet, and it looks like the only thing that fits is a code e01. I called back and told them this, and they want to verify it on the printer, so how do I find out if it is indeed the e01 code causing the problem?
With the E-01 error code, the printer tries to point out there is a fatal error. The manual says, switch off the product and then back on again. If the error continues, check for a paper jam. If there is no paper jam, contact Epson for support.
My guess is you already read that part.
But it does not say anything about ink or empty cartridges.
The indication of a paper jam, can be caused, by anything that got in the printer mechanism. Like a paperclip or just dust that fell in.
Carefully check if there is nothing in the printer that does not belong there. Then load the printer with correct paper, and only a few sheets will do for testing. If there is no paper in the printer, it could cause the same error. Then try again.
If you have a lot of ink in the printer, please try to clean up with some kitchen paper. (Use rubber gloves, because ink on your hands is difficult to remove). There is cleaning fluid for ink cartridges, but only refill stations do have some.
