Disconnect battery cable and remove spark plug. Thread a nylon rope into the cylinder and GENTLY raise piston toward top (to push rope snugly against the valve.) Use compression tool on spring to allow valve guides to release. Be prepared to remove cylinder head if you allow engine to turn or if there are any complications.

Hi there; my stihl ts 420 does not start easily

replace the decompression valve. also check for carbon buildup on top of piston. usually when a saw stops on its own after 5 min or so.... the piston and jug are scored and need to be replaced.

Is it normal to have to replace pulley, timing belt and fan belt in renault megane cabriolet after 5 years. How much do these spare parts cost? Have been quoted £750 parts and 6 hour labour costs.

Timing belt on 4 cylinder Renaults should be changed every 50-60000 Km. Consequence of not doing so is having the belt break, and damaging valves and valve lifters (extremely costly) . Replacing the belt is time consuming, and labor intensive. So while the belt is out, its is a good investment to replace pulley, belt tensioner/ roller bearing and water pump belt, which is nearby and has to be taken out anyway, for timing belt replacement. Meganes dont have fan belts, they use electric motors for this duty.

Renault 5, 87, fitted new water pump, worked ok for a while, now radiator fan doesnt come on car gets very hot, engine shakes whilst ticking over and acceleration is very spluttery, i need advice

change the rad switch thats in the rad ,that will make the fan work ,as for idle and missing ,i would do a compression check and if iam not mistaken it will need a valve regrind and maybe evan new valve springs .the reason i say this is because by its age i dont think renault used stelite coated valves and valve seats for unleaded petrol so you will have to grind the valves in as they will be all pitted and burnt ,and use a lead additive in future

Change Faulty/Cracked touchscreen on P900

The screen consist of two parts: touchscreen(TS) itself and LCD screen. They're attached mechanically, not with glue or solder.
TS glued to metal frame and by mean of this frame(mechanically) attached to LCD(like shoebox cover) - you can see pits on side.
1. With sharp blade of razor or scalpel gently remove this frame with TS glued on top.
2. Then remove TS from the frame (I simply broke it and removed glass pieces from the frame)
3. Clean the frame with alcohol to remove glue and grains of glass.
4. Glue new TS to the frame at ONE SITTING!
5. Wipe out dust from LCD and inner surface of TS and attach the frame.
6. Buy conducting glue and connect 4-contacts of TS cable with LCD cable. Put adhesive tape over them to maintain electric connection.
That's all.
