Question about Hofner Icon Series Beatle Bass Guitar LEFT HANDED with Icon B Bass Hardshell Case

1 Answer

No sound from hofner icon bass

Always had an on again off again with output from bass that I would just replug the cord into the jack. Well last week it would have nothing of my temporary fix (happened periodically over the past 4 years). When I unplugged and replug that was it. The amp works by the way as I have other guitars to run thru it. I just replaced the jack and that has not solved my problem. Any help as to how to trouble shoot and fix. Thanks, John

There is a switch in the jack socket that lets it know jack is in use. when the stop working it usually means you need to change the jack, you cannot bend the part back with out breaking it so just best to change it. you can get a replacement jack from ebay, or any electrical supply shop that does small components.

Find a wiring schematic for a hofner bass knock off?

It should still be close to a real Hofner bass
a common wiring configuration is
two pickups volume for each pickup, pickup selector switch,
bass on/off switch, and treb on/off switch
there are quite a few schematics available online...

How to trouble shoot Hofner Icon Series Bass

Hi!
If replacing the jack did't clear it up, and the cable and amp checkout OK, my best guess would be either a solder connection on the pots and switches, or a dirty pot or switch. I'd reflow all solder points and use DeOxit 5 on the pots and switches. Use it sparingly trying to flow it inside the components. Then operate the pots/switches a number of times quickly. Do your best to keep it off the finish. Do not spray it into the pickups.
Good Luck!

My double pick up Dean edge quit working while playing. I checked the wiring and all looks good, but three is s a black wire coming from hole to center of body attached to nothing. Looks like it never was....

Make sure you have two wires soldered to the output jack on the bass. having a wire lose is not purposely put like that, for no sound from the bass then that wire is either from the pickups and connects to the pots on the bass or on the output jack. I would suggest taking it to an authorized dean dealer to inspect the wiring.

My warlock makes this horrible noise as i plug in the cord. I don' have ANY idea why. I've been messing around with it and still nothing has worked out. It makes the sound as if my amp is turned all the...

If the noise is a pop or click, that's normal. Any other sound could be caused by too long a cord, which will produce noise while on the floor.

If it's not the cord, then you most likely have something wrong with the wiring inside the guitar. Have a luthier (guitar builder and technician) look at it, and s/he should be able to fix the problem.

Hope that helps!

Crate Bass Amp B100 - No sound.

Do you happen to have another speaker that you could hook up to speaker output? This would bypass the amps internal speaker and lf you get sound from that setup, it would mean either a jack failure or possible internal speaker problems. Please let me know.

My bass guitar wont connect to my amp.

Assuming that the amplifier is functioning properly, I suspect that the problem is either in the cord, the plug socket on the bass, or the volume control potentiometer. First, I would try another cord that is known to be in good condition (ALWAYS plug the cord into the instrument FIRST). Second, carefully remove the cord receptacle plug from the bass and examine the solder joints (check for loose wires). Third, carefully remove the plate that holds the volume and tone pots. Examine these controls for loose wires or faulty solder joints. CAUTION: If solder joints are found to be the culprit, care must be taken to correct this problem. If too much heat enters the pot, it can be ruined!
