Question about LG 47LC7DF 47 in. LCD HDTV
The remote senosr on my LG LCD TV went out 3 months after I bought it and was repaired under warranty. Cost to LG was $409.63 for an IR board ($14.37), Main Digital Board ($195.26) and trip charge ($200.00).
Now 2 years later it has stopped working again and I am wondering if I could replace the parts myself. It took the guy 15 minutes to repair it the first time. Also wondering if the IR board is typically the problem or if one board affects the other board. It would be great to fix it for a $15 board. I was also searching the web for an appropriate LG service manual (not owners manual).
IR senor may not be bad. Try using a different remote (universal) and program to TV. If universal remote works and your doesn't, you may need to purchase a remote instead of IR board. If you confirmed that the IR board is bad then replacing the IR board will fix the remote issue. IR board is an easy fix. Just open the back cover out and it's located right in the middle toward the bottom of the TV.
