LG 47LC7DF LCD TV Remote Sensor not working

The remote senosr on my LG LCD TV went out 3 months after I bought it and was repaired under warranty. Cost to LG was $409.63 for an IR board ($14.37), Main Digital Board ($195.26) and trip charge ($200.00).
Now 2 years later it has stopped working again and I am wondering if I could replace the parts myself. It took the guy 15 minutes to repair it the first time. Also wondering if the IR board is typically the problem or if one board affects the other board. It would be great to fix it for a $15 board. I was also searching the web for an appropriate LG service manual (not owners manual).

Thanks for the help! Remote works on another LG LCD. So I guess the first step to to replace the IR board. Hopefully the Main Digital Board (the one they replaced before) is okay - TV works okay off of the manual channel, volume, menu buttons.

Replaced the IR board (EBU 36136201) and the remote still does not work. Guess I will have to replace the Main Digital Board. Price on a new one is now over $300.

IR senor may not be bad. Try using a different remote (universal) and program to TV. If universal remote works and your doesn't, you may need to purchase a remote instead of IR board. If you confirmed that the IR board is bad then replacing the IR board will fix the remote issue. IR board is an easy fix. Just open the back cover out and it's located right in the middle toward the bottom of the TV.

Check the remote control for its infra-red emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check by pressing all the buttons on it; and see whether all of it generates infrared signal while pressing. If it is found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. I have just bought a brand new remote for my Phillips 42 inch LCD tv from a reputable phillips website as the old one was not working (I recently bought it from my mate and his kid had eaten the on button...

Sounds like the IR sensor in the TV may be faulty, since you have now tried a couple remotes. Make sure nothing is on the IR sensor like tape, plastic, etc. IR sensor repairs are a fairly cheap and easy repair that can be done at your local tv repair shop. If you are still in warranty you can call Philips and tell them that you tried 2 remotes (1 brand new) on the TV and neither work. They should offer you a repair option. If you have any questions regarding your Philips warranty let me know.

1* Select any channel on the TV.

2* Point your Sky+ remote control away from the TV and press the tv button.

3* Press and hold down the Select and red buttons simultaneously on the Sky+ remote control until the red light at the top of the Sky+ remote control flashes twice.

4* Input the 3 digit number from the Sky+ remote control codes then press the Select button. The red light at the top of the Sky+ remote control should flash twice.

5*

Point the Sky+ remote control at the TV and try the volume button.

OK.

I just bought a LG LCD 32 inch tv 2010 and the sound goes down after 20 minutes by it self is there any solution please help

If you are operating with remote I guess the remote is faulty. Try operating it with the remote placed in another room & observe if the sound still decreases, else the button(sound) on your TV is itself faulty. Since you have just bought it, its still under warranty - contact dealer.
If its the remote, then change the remote

When I turn on the tv , it starts skipping/running through all the chnnels. At this point the remote does not respond and the only way to stop it is to unplug the tv. wait a little and plug back in....

This could be a bug in the firmware. LG has a firmware upgrade which is loaded onto a USB stick and plugged into the HMDI port and the TV is reflashed. Try going into the menu and doing a factory reset. Just incase the TV has somehow gone into a diagnostic channel search mode. This may clear the problem.

LG LCD TV won't respond to remote controllers

sparrow00, your fix worked for me, and I think I know why. The 1/8" remote input jack on the back of the TV has electrical contacts inside that are probably there to sense the presence of a plug-in remote. When they detect the insertion of this plug they disable the front panel IR (infrared) receiver and the TV only responds to this plugged-in remote and the buttons on the TV itself. After some period of time these contacts get corroded and the circuit is no longer completed between them. The TV now thinks an external remote is plugged in, and it ignores its own front panel IR receiver.

When you plug a 1/8" plug into this remote socket on the back of the TV it wipes away the corrosion. When you remove the plug the internal contacts conduct properly again and the TV responds to its front panel IR receiver. For best results you should plug a 1/8" headphone plug into this remote jack and twist it a few times, then pull it out and repeat several times. Repeat every frew months or whenever the TV acts up.
Thanks for your solution!

Remote sensor quit working

The sensors do tend to go out on these tv's. You can call an electronics repair man to have them come to you.
It requires soldering the old and new sensor board for replacement.

This set should still be under warranty. Inquire about warranty service. DO NOT open it up as that would void the warranty. There is a problem with either the logic board or the panel itself. In either case, it will be covered under warranty.

Most Polaroid flat-screen TVs won't program to the Uverse remotes. Try buying a different universal remote that shows coding for both Uverse and Polaroid.
