LG 47LC7DF LCD TV Remote Sensor not working

The remote senosr on my LG LCD TV went out 3 months after I bought it and was repaired under warranty. Cost to LG was $409.63 for an IR board ($14.37), Main Digital Board ($195.26) and trip charge ($200.00).
Now 2 years later it has stopped working again and I am wondering if I could replace the parts myself. It took the guy 15 minutes to repair it the first time. Also wondering if the IR board is typically the problem or if one board affects the other board. It would be great to fix it for a $15 board. I was also searching the web for an appropriate LG service manual (not owners manual).

Thanks for the help! Remote works on another LG LCD. So I guess the first step to to replace the IR board. Hopefully the Main Digital Board (the one they replaced before) is okay - TV works okay off of the manual channel, volume, menu buttons.

Replaced the IR board (EBU 36136201) and the remote still does not work. Guess I will have to replace the Main Digital Board. Price on a new one is now over $300.

IR senor may not be bad. Try using a different remote (universal) and program to TV. If universal remote works and your doesn't, you may need to purchase a remote instead of IR board. If you confirmed that the IR board is bad then replacing the IR board will fix the remote issue. IR board is an easy fix. Just open the back cover out and it's located right in the middle toward the bottom of the TV.

I have just bought a brand new remote for my Phillips 42 inch LCD tv from a reputable phillips website as the old one was not working (I recently bought it from my mate and his kid had eaten the on button...

Sounds like the IR sensor in the TV may be faulty, since you have now tried a couple remotes. Make sure nothing is on the IR sensor like tape, plastic, etc. IR sensor repairs are a fairly cheap and easy repair that can be done at your local tv repair shop. If you are still in warranty you can call Philips and tell them that you tried 2 remotes (1 brand new) on the TV and neither work. They should offer you a repair option. If you have any questions regarding your Philips warranty let me know.

The remote control stopped working the tv is less than ninty days old. I replaced the batteries and the remote still did not work. I went to walmart and they said they could not do any thing about it ....

Let's find out if it is the remote or remote IR receiver in the TV is the problem, if it is TV then you should have it repaired under warranty.
Testing remote control:
The remote control puts out IR (InfraRed) signal that human eyes cannot see, to find out if the remote is sending out the signal or not you just point the remote at the digital camera's Lens (Digital Camera can detect IR), you should see flashing light on the camera's screen when any one of the remote button is pushed. If you do see the flashing on the camera, then the problem is in the TV IR receiver or the main logic board; more troubleshooting with scope will be needed to look at the signals.

My LG 42LB5D TV can't be turn off unless I unplug

It sounds like you have faulty logic in your main board. The remote issue could also be related because the main board controls the processing from the IR sensor which is more likely because IR sensors rarely fail.

Replace the main board to fix the TV.

Not repond The remote control

Hi, Unfortunatly, Philips had a design flaw from the manufacturer. You will need to have it serviced by a technician, but the replacement part is called an I.R. Board. It should only cost about 2 or 3 dollars, but the labor is the main cost of the repair, which you have a warranty for.

Tv went black

I've owned this unit since Dec 2005. It appears there are two Video Amp boards Z & Y-SUS boards, that have failure problems.

After 10 months, my ZSUS board went out and was replaced under warranty. And... Just a month ago, the same problem occured again, so I've complained to Zenith (LG) and they are extending my warranty to repair the unit.

TV doesn't recognize any remote

The proble is the IR sensor 932220681667 or the small signal board. I would replace the IR sensor first. Also check the firmware and make sure it is BX23U-1.5.0.0_03531 and if it is not go to www.usasupport.com and down load the firware on a USB stick. If the set still has the problem when both are done replace the small signal board.
