Question about HP DeskJet Office Equipment & Supplies
Both cartriges and attention light keeps flashing. The ink carriage keeps slamming to the right. There is nothing in the printer and no paper jam. Any suggstions?
There will be a sensor on the bottom of the carridge that senses its position. If you look in side the printer you may see a long strip of plastic with very fine lines drawn on it. This goes through the sensor. Check that it is not broken or unhooked. Also check if there is a small pice of paper or dust in the sensor. Try taking the paper and ink out. Unplug the printer and give it a good shake to dislodge any contaminanet that may be in there. Unfortuntly you cannot always get spares for these things and often it is cheaper to replace the printer rather than repair it.

if the lights are flashing along together there is a cariage stall. The ink cartridge craddle is hitting something. Find out what and remove it if doesn't belong there. First of all remove and reinsert both cartridges. One of them may be inserted wrong.

try unplugging, waiting 20 seconds then plug back iin. This resets printer, check for paper stuck in the back on the rollers and the top rollers...make sure printer isn't dirty..if rollers are dirty whip off with damp cloth..make sure your using the right type of paper....if these steps don't work and your under warranty call the warranty company....this is a hardware problem that needs to be looked at

SOURCE: HELP PLEASE
Remove one cartridge and close the access door. If the cartridge light goes off, the bad cartridge has been removed. If the light continues to blink, remove the other cartridge and reinstall the first one. If the light goes off, the cartridge in the printer is the good one.
