Question about Locks & Locksmithing

1 Answer

I had several plugs going into my powerboard when I noticed thick dark smoke coming out of the board. I quickly unplugged from the wall and threw it outside. Will it be safe to use the small fan heater that was plugged into this board and was probably the cause of its overload.

Ferrar f430, when driving hard the exhaust manifolds turn red hot

There going to turn red you r putting them threw extreme load. The headers are constructed from a thin wall stainless steel material they are going to heat up quick and hold and show the heat.If they were made from cast iron like some american cars are you will not see them turn red because they are very thick andwont show the heat

My 2001 jeep grand cherokee has a dark mist/smoke coming out of the vents, and defroster. But, the heater works fine. What could it be?

DO NOT USE STOP LEAK!!!!!! That stuff has no brain so you cant tell it to plug only specific leaks. It will go for the easiest hole to plug which can be a water port in the cooling jacket for the cyl heads. replace the heater core. Fix it right or bypass but please please please do not use anything that will stop a leak

Acer powerboard problem

Wow, smoke right away on the new board? Are you using a AC Adapter and Power Cord that was specifically made for the ACER or are you using one of those one size fits all that some stores sell that comes with a bag or removable tips so that one will fit your laptop? That's exactly what one of the one size fits all will do.

No matter what, you're stuck with buying another motherboard.

The black splotch your describing sounds very much like something failed on the board and burned the board so now that is a carbon patch that can conduct electric current. With that in mind, I would suggest replacing the board definately

Smoke coming from exhaust when i start my truck

Hi.

If you have just a bit more of smoke than usual do a code scanning to check if mixture is rich or lean or if there is misfire or other problem that can affect the engine.

Dark thick smoke is symptom of unburned fuel or oil getting into the cylinder. The smoke can be the result of rich mixture, piston ring problems, valve problems, ring problems or misfire. EGR and PCV system problems also result in smoke from exhaust.

If smoke is only at start and it is dark gray it is probably because of incorrect mixture resulting from another problem.

If problem is piston rings or valves the smoke will be black, thick and smelly because oil gets burned in cylinders. The smoke in this case is not only at start.

  1. Check if you have spark in all cylinders.
  2. Check if one or more of the spark plugs is dirtier than the others. That will tell you if problem is with that (or those) cylinders only.
  3. Do a DTC code scanning using an OBDII reader. In US the code can be done for free at Autozone.
Thick white smoke is instead symptom of water (or coolant) getting into the cylinder. Check if the coolant fluid level is going down by itself. Look for traces of fuel in coolant reservoir. Do a compression test to find out if there is head gasket leakage inside the engine.

Regards.

There is a 7.5 Amp ATO automotive fuse on the rear electronics tray that is probably burnt out. The ammeter will not work when this happens. Also, if you have a bad on-board charger that will inhibit movement of the chair. Unplug the on-board charger and see if you get it to move. Hope this helps.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Problem with monitor

Hi.
Are you able to see a slight image on it at dusk and maybe with the help of a flashlight. since your blue light stays on the video board, may be okay.
It sounds like you have bad capacitors on your powerboard or possibly a burned out transistor on the inverter.

Only way to really tell is to open it up.
If you unplug the screen to video board ribbon, you may notice a different effect in the screen lighting.
There is a chance one of your bulbs is creating a problem
Should the screen happen to light up all white, then your power board and inverter are okay and the problem may be in the video board.
If it looks pinkish or dark or flickers then the bulbs or a bulb may be the issue.
If it flashes on then goes off, it's in the power or inverter board.

Check the plug for damage, if it has lost metal or is burnt up, replace it with the best in the store, one of the big round ones. The power board was probably too light for the job, also get the best you can. Heaters draw a lot of electricity, use heavy duty cords to power them. It's better to plug it directly into the wall if you can.
