The same thing just happened to me. It must be a full moon. The software calibration program noted below looks like a good approach but Ernesto does not provide any information about how to access the diagnostic to run it.

By the way, Lifefitness went belly-up late 2012 which I discovered last night when my unit failed.

Why is my true 400p stuck on maximum incline and will not lower?

It is likely the connections to the incline motor are loose or the incline motor itself is faulty. Refer Troubleshooting section in the manual which you can download from this site.

The Steps for Newer Style Console Calibration

  1. Locate the calibration area on the rear or underside of the console (a hole, near the console's center, that goes through to the electronics board. (This hole should not have a screw in it.)

  2. Insert a pencil (eraser end), into the hole and feel around for the cal button (will click when pressed).

  3. Press the button 2 times (with the pencil eraser). The first click should show CL11 in the console, the second click should show CL21.

  4. If the process was done correctly, and CL21 appears in the console, you are in "calibration mode." The next few steps consists of pressing buttons on the console and observing settings. This will not require any other tools.

  5. Press ENTER. CL22 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.

  6. Press ENTER. CL23 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.

  7. Press ENTER. CL24 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.

  8. Press ENTER. CL25 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.

  9. Press ENTER. CL26 should display in the TIME window. You should then see the letter "E."

  10. Press ENTER. You should see "SS" or "55" in the console.

  11. Push the STOP/START button. For safety, at this point, you should step off, or be off, the treadmill.

  12. Push the ENTER button. The walking belt should start to move, accelerate to maximum speed, then stop on its own.

  13. When the belt stops, the incline should self test by raising to its highest incline position, then lowering back down to its lowest position.

  14. Once the incline test is complete, push the POWER button 2 times. The unit should shut off and the console should go completely blank. If this happens, the treadmill is done calibrating and is ready for use.

  15. If the letter "F" appears in the SPEED or INCLINE window when the power button is pressed 2 times, the treadmill is indicating a failure somewhere either in the SPEED or INCLINE (depending on the window the "F" appeared in). Troubleshooting the failure would be the next step.

Hello, WE have the model 4100i treadmill and the elevation is stuck in the highest position and won't reset to zero. How do I fix this or who can I call for this repair? Thanks, Tom

Try the calibration procedure found in the troubleshooting section of your manual first. Here are the basic instructions.
With the key in the console, press one of the Incline buttons. While the incline is changing (or the numbers on the console) , remove the key. After a few seconds, re-insert the key. The treadmill will automatically rise to the maximum incline level and then return to the minimum level. This will recalibrate the incline.
If it still doesn't move, remove the cover. Find the incline motor. You will see a slot in the end of the motor. Using a drill with a standard slotted screwdriver bit, spin the motor counterclockwise (if it is having difficulties spinning, turn clockwise instead) for just a couple seconds. Now do the calibration procedure again.
I have had machines that got stuck before. Once released and recalibrated, the operation was OK.
The service number for your machine is found on the model number sticker on the frame of the treadmill.

My treadmill is stuck at the highest incline and will not decline

Although it is fairly rare the incline motor can jam up into the highest position and get stuck there. To fix this take off the plastic hood that covers the incline motor and depending on the motor you should be able to wind it with your hand out of the highest position. When it is out of the highest position run the calibration as described in the owner's manual and it should go all the way up and all the way down. If it is not this type of motor that can be wound by hand then the first and last thing to do is to try calibration of the incline as described in your manual. If this does not work then a new incline motor is needed.

4)Insert the safety key while holding both buttons down in step3

6)Let go of both buttons in step 3 and press the oval stop button once
7) Now press the up arrow green incline button once(This is located to the left of the yellow program button)
8) Allow the treadmill to go through a calibration cycle, once it completes and stops moving remove the safety key count to 3 and reinsert.

Volume of my stereo went to maximum.

Before you do damage the speakers, locate & remove the fuse/s for the radio. This will at least disable the unit until the problem can be isolated.

Does the 530's owners manual have any info regarding resetting the radio? The unit maybe stuck in a loop or is processing an error & won't respond to external commands. Today's in-dash units are microprocessor controlled & occasionally need to be rebooted, like a windows based PC. Removing the the fuse/s may accomplish this. Wait for about an hour, re-insert the fuse/s & see if the problem is resolved.

If not, have you checked with BMW? There may be a service bulletin covering the wiring in the steering column that might be at fault. Good luck.
