P01-520 Main encoder sensor does not go ON/OFF within 10 milliseconds after the main motor activates.

The code refers to a Main Motor lock (not turning). If this is the case, 90% of the time the rear bracket (accessed from removing back cover) has been bent/pushed and deformed so that the cam and timing levers will be unaligned and jammed in rotating parts of machine. Forcing the drum into machine when unaligned will bend this bracket and it only takes 1/4 inch "bow" and hard to tell my eye.
There is one spring loaded lever/cam to move away from center movement and you can push all back into position, with drum removed, by pushing on the rear bracket. But the problem will return if this bracket is not "reshaped" to hold all moving parts into stable position. It would be nice to make a video/picture to up load to explain further.

I have this error code on my ricoh aficio cl7200 : SC 440-02

On the CL7200, sc440-02 is a color drum motor error. This error could be caused by a bad color drum unit (any of the 3 colors) or the drum gear positioning sensor, but more often than not it is because of a drum motor that went bad. There is one motor that controls all three color drums -- when this motor goes bad, you get the sc440-02 error.

Le lights up: water does not drain out cannot complete a load of wash

This is a positioning sensor error. The sensor will cost approx $20 - 25 to purchase and can be replaced as follows:

  1. Turn off the mains power and unplug the machine.
  2. Turn off the water supply to the machine.
  3. Remove off the 4 screws for the metal covering
  4. Remove the large centre bolt (#2) this will not be as easy unless you have someone else to hold the drum from the front to stop it rotating.
  5. Remove the magnets covering. This may require some rocking back and forward while pulling to the back (placing it back is not as easy!)
  6. Disconnect the cords retaining screws (#1)
  7. Remove the 6 screws of the motor plate (donut shaped) (#3) and place the motor on a towel on the floor
  8. Remove the positioning sensor assembly (plastic component) from the motor
  9. Refit the new positioning sensor assembly on the motor
  10. Redo steps 7 thru 1 in reverse

I have a kenmore 27 inch electric dryer that when you push the start button it sounds like it starts but the drum doesn't turn. What could this be?

A clear indication that your dryer belt is broken is when the dryer drive motor runs but the drum does not rotate. A new belt is relatively inexpensive from several online or a local parts vendor, but installing it can be a bit frustrating since the dryer drum usually needs to be remove to install a replacement belt. Access to the interior of the dryer is usually necessary. For Maytag (and some Kenmore) models, the front of the dryer can be easily removed (two screws below front contour) by pulling out on the bottom of the panel and rotating up to release the top clips. Once off, place to the side, then remove four machine screws from the front drum/lint filter assembly, then remove by pullling out. Once off, place aside. Remove drum by lifting up and pulling out on drum (since the belt is broken it will not provide any resistance). Once removed, inspect the motor pulley arrangement noting the belt routing path around the motor pulley, belt tensioner, and the drum. Inspect the drum for belt wear marks, noting approximate location on drum where belt rides. Install replacement belt by routing through pulley arrangement (ridged side of belt rides againt motor pulley), then "hang" the belt on the interior backside to enable reaching the belt after reinstalling the drum. After placing the drum edge on the rear rollers, lift the front of the drum up into position, working the belt around the drum into the drum groove. Once the belt is in the groove, the drum should stay in position without lifting from the front. Check for proper pulley routing, taking care to avoid routing the belt OVER the tensioner belt keeper, i.e., route the the belt under the belt keeper to avoid belt riding on the keeper and failing prematurely. Install the front/lint filter assembly. As you manually rotate the drum, reach along the top and side of the drum and gently pull the belt out of the groove and into its normal ride position. Install the front panel, plug the unit in, start and check for proper rotation of the drum.

Hi, The dryer drum does not start when the start button is pushed unless I rotate the drum to a specific position.

When we had this problem the solution was to replace the motor, the electric coil in the motor had a flat spot which would not make contact and let the motor start. By moving the drum you are advancing the motor away from the flat spot. Hope this helps.

Belt Re-assembly

If you have a really old dryer (not a neptune), and if the idler pulley is about 4-in diameter you have chosen the hardest dryer to replace a belt on. There is a diagram on the bag your new belt came in. The door in the back of the dryer will be helpful. The tricky part about this one is that the fabric side of the belt goes against the basket drum.

A Neptune belt is easier, but can still be tricky.
First, put the drum in position against the back wall; but without the front supporting ring. The rubber side goes aginst the drum. Line up the new belt on the drum according to the marks left by the old belt.
Reach under the drum and match up the belt to its position on the motor pulley. Lift the idler pulley up until you can slide the belt onto it. Gently release the belt and idler pulley. Check to see if it stayed in position.
Carefully replace the support ring and install the four screws holding it in position. Slowly rotate the drum counter-clockwise about two full turns to better align the belt on the drum before restarting the machine.

Good luck!
