What ram for

RAM is a type of computer memory accessed randomly during hard drive processes.

A computer's RAM is considered "random" because any byte of memory can be accessed without processing previous bytes.

Purpose of RAM

RAM is used to load and run programs or applications on a computer's operating system. More RAM means more applications and programs can be run simultaneously.

SRAM

Static Random Access Memory, or SRAM, stores data on a computer in a static method, meaning the data stays the same with power being supplied to the memory chip. SRAM is the faster RAM when compared with DRAM.

DRAM

Dynamic Random Access Memory, or DRAM, is a type of memory used in personal home computers. This type of memory must have an electrical current to refresh. DRAM is used more commonly because it's less expensive to manufacturer and install in chips.

EDO RAM

Extended Data Output, or EDO, is a new type of DRAM chip that uses technology to add 10 to 15 percent more speed than normal. A computer that uses EDO technology must meet the chip requirements or the EDO will not be recognized.

FPM

Fast Page Mode, or FPM, is a RAM speed enhancement that uses rows of bits selected in columns and rows of the memory.

FPM is used in EDO RAM.

Ram memory does not work in my computer

ram does work in your pc. it works in every pc. Now the type of ram that works is the root of the problem. Basically your looking at 3 types of ram and really only 2 probably unless your pc is a dinosaur. They are DDR II and DDR III Make sure your PC uses the type you purchased. Also, make sure you have the system requirements to run that large of Ram.

I put drr ram but do not work. i must tomake some fifical connectin in board ?where ?

Hi

DDR RAM will only fit in the correct socket. If you are sure the socket is for DDR and the RAM you are using is DDR, then the problem could be the type of DDR you are using.

Check what the maximum GHz speed of RAM your motherboard can accept.

Check what the maximum Mb/Gb of RAM your motherboard can accept.

Check if the RAM is Errror Correcting or Non Error Correcting.

See here for more information on RAM types:

http://www.computermemoryupgrade.net/types-of-computer-memory-common-uses.html

Check the specifications of your motherboard on the manufacturer's website or by typing the name and model number + Specifications into Google.

If the RAM you are using is the correct one for your motherboard, then either the RAM or the motherboard may be faulty.

Reset the BIOS on the motherboard by disconnecting the power cable and removing the small silver CMOS battary for 2 minutes and then replacing it, then test the RAM again.

Go to a computer repaitr shop and let them test the RAM and motherbord for you separately with another computer.

DDR is very old technology, so it is cheap to buy more DDR RAM or a compatible motherboard from www.amazon.com.

I hope this helps.

Ecc ram in compaq Evo d300 won't work, is there a Ram setting in bios?... updated bios to 3.04

Hello mike59087, if you are having a problem with the 'RAM,' you should check to see if the 'System' support "ECC RAM." Next check to see if ie; you added more 'RAM' what type of RAM did you have in the computer before. You should see if the System is compatible with the different "Type: DDR, DDR2, DDR3, 512MB, 1GB, or 2GB; what is the [Maxium] RAM supported? Are the "Speeds different? 333Mhz, 2.1 GHz, 3.2 GHz... Is the RAM, Dual Layer, Double-sided... For the 'best performance; all RAM should be the 'same speed, from the 'same' manufacturer, the "total amount to add up to the "Maxium" supported RAM, and the 'same type: DDR, DDR2, or DDR3... Take a look at this website, it will give you a "quick scan, to see the type of RAM that is best to use with your 'system. How do I activate new ram?

There is no need to activate Ram. You need to make sure that you purchase the right kind of RAM for example you need to know if your motherboard is compatible with DDR or SD. Then you need to know it can hold up to how many GB.

Once you insert the ram in to the Slot and reboot the PC it will automatically detect.

use the link below to find which RAM your are using.

Can i use DDR2 RAM instead of DDR1

YES, if your motherboard accepts DDR Sdram, and DDR2 Sdram ram memory. If your motherboard has both types of ram memory slots.

BUT, you can ONLY use DDR Sdram, OR, DDR2 Sdram.

You Cannot use both types of ram memory in the motherboard, at the same time.
(BIOS will only recognize one type at a time)

NO, if your motherboard does not have ram slots for both DDR Sdram, and DDR2 Sdram ram memory.

Double Data Rate Sdram ram memory modules, have 184 gold plated contact pins on the bottom.
92 on Each side,

(You can click on the above photo to enlarge)

DDR2 Sdram ram memory modules have 240 contact pins.

How replace memory of philips freeline pc

Hi,
There are two types of memory. RAM and ROM. ROM is permanent. It uses to load the operating system from HDD. It cannot be replaced. The other one is RAM , this temporary memory which speeds up tour pc. This can be replaced.
Every motherboard has got 2 RAM slots. In RAM also there are 2 types. DDR1 and DDR2. So, know your RAM type that supports your motherboard and insert it properly. every RAM contains a notch in middle and that notch should perfectly fix the RAM slot in the motherboard. Thank you

Pentium 4 comptability with SD Ram

If you know what mother board you have you could check what RAM it can use.

All RAM is installed in the same way, but different types of RAM are keyed differently. That basically means that one type of RAM (for example SD RAM) will simply not fit into another type of RAM slot (for example a DDR RAM slot).

To install ram on a PC
Please note - do NOT touch the connector side of the RAM, handle it only by holding the side or top edge
1. check that you have the right type of RAM. do this by lining up the RAM above the RAM slot and making sure that the RAM is the same length as the RAM slot AND ALSO that the RAM's key (the little hole or notch in the RAM) lines up with the key in the RAM slot. Note there might be more than one key
2. open both clips of the RAM slot by pushing them down and out from the center of the RAM slot
3. gently insert the RAM into the RAM slot
4. check again that the RAM and the RAM slot's key's line up, if they do, firmly press down on the RAM on both corners until both clips automatically click shut on the RAM

That's it! :-)
