One reason could be low blood pressure, pls get it checked through a doctor. Drinking a mixture of common salt - sugar & water all mixed together is a home remedy to cope after fainting or having a spinning head.

This condition can be due to several causes, some simple, some quite serious. You have to get along to your doctor to find out what is going on and set your mind at rest.

When I take my blood pressure, the lower reading is regularly in the 50's. If it was higher would I have more energy?

Possibly. Low blood pressure is good in that you will live longer, but can make you a bit fatigued. The ideal is 140/80

Ideally, you should have a blood test to check your levels of iron, and a general check up. I am only an amateur doctor :>)

Symptoms By Mayo Clinic Staff For some people, low blood pressure can signal an underlying problem, especially when it drops suddenly or is accompanied by signs and symptoms such as:
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Fainting (syncope)
  • Lack of concentration
  • Blurred vision
  • Nausea
  • Cold, clammy, pale skin
  • Rapid, shallow breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Depression
  • Thirst

When to see a doctor

In many instances, low blood pressure isn't serious. If you have consistently low readings but feel fine, your doctor is likely to monitor you during routine exams.
Even occasional dizziness or lightheadedness may be a relatively minor problem - the result of mild dehydration from too much time in the sun or a hot tub, for example. In these situations, it's not a matter so much of how far, but of how quickly, your blood pressure drops.
Still, it's important to see your doctor if you experience any signs or symptoms of hypotension because they sometimes can point to more-serious problems. It can be helpful to keep a record of your symptoms, when they occur and what you were doing at the time.

What to eat to raise blood pressure

nothing to eat unless you want to clog up the heart but dehydration or lack of regular water intake affects blood pressure
talk with a doctor as you need to fully understand "blood pressure" and what it means in the body
Low blood pressure readings are normal and it is the high pressure readings that are dangerous
Again talk with a doctor to be correctly informed and what your particular blood pressure readings should be

Sybil Sokol

Sorry Sybil, You really have to ask this with your doctor or hospital. Even If I knew your doctor, I could not ask him your stats, because he is not allowed to tell anyone else but you.

Doctor ordered blood tests to check for diabetes and my thyroid but why these tests?

If you think your doctor has ordered you blood testing just to check the facts of diabetes and thyroid, I would say-you are wrong. There are numbers of reasons why the doctor prescribes blood tests. The Lipoprofile will tell the doctor the blood fats of yours ( example-lipids -- with Cholesterol) which are doing. This is SOP test. Diabetes can also cause high cholesterol. There are some other series of test to identify the actual facts of your body through blood test. A nmr blood test can resolve a lot of issue and therefore you can see many times doctors supposed to prescribe this.

My wrist cuff monitor seems to be reading low. Is there a way to get it checked or calibrated?

The next time you go to your doctor, take the wrist cuff monitor with you. As they always do, the nurse or doctor will check you vital signs. After they do that and they've told you what your blood pressure and pulse readings are, correctly place the cuff monitor on your wrist and check you BP and Pulse with it. Compare the reading from the cuff monitor to what your doctor got. If it's within a few points, it's no big deal. If it's way off, than there's a problem with the cuff.

Remember, whenever using a cuff monitor, always keep your wrist at heart level for the most accurate reading. Once it's activated, remain completely still and don't move your wrist, until it has finished cycling.

My electronic blood pressure/pulse monitor a few years old. Is it still accurate with a new battery?

I am no expert. I would think that if the old/original battery is no longer working, a new battery would restore the monitor to its original usefulness. I think it is important, in any event, to take the monitor with you to your doctor's office when you go to see him and to check your BP with your monitor when the doctor uses his "professional" monitor to see that yours is reading the same as the doctor's instrument.
