Consult your owner's manual. It should show how to open your machine (if it can be opened by other than a professional).

I bought a Skil 9290-01 angle grinder and a spring that is between the on/off switch and the motor broke after about two months of use. It is a spiral spring with a semicircular loop on the end, not a...

I checked several sources and agree with you, they don't want end users to be able to repair the tool apparently. I have a toll free number for Skil that might help it is 1-877-754-5999. I also found the breakdown and they as you know don't really show any parts. They might even replace the tool for you under warranty or repair it.

When using the barometer or altimeter on my my pag 40 - 2271 it shows err. How do I fix it? Do you know what page in the users guide shows how or gives directions on how to fix?

Same problem with my SPF-40, module 2273, after a small helical compression spring, silver color, fell out. I could not determine where it is suppose to be located. It could be the barometric reference spring for sensing the barometric pressure.

Blades not moving on ss24 weedeater

I just disassembled a SS24 hedge trimmer that had the same problem of the blades not moving. The problem is that there are 2 or 3 teeth on the helical gear that are missing. Consequently, the small gear on the motor shaft cannot continuously engage the gear that moves the blades back and forth.

MS Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 scroll wheel only scrolls down

There are number of reasons and solutions why your mouse isn't working properly. No.1. Resynchronize your mouse to the Pc. It's best to use the reset button for resynchronization. No. 2. Change the Port (Usb port). Sometimes even the small problem with the port created this problem. No.3. Replace the battery. If you are sure about the battery is Live, you can try with another make eg. Sony to Everydy. No.4. Interfaces Problem. Make sure that no electronic items, metal box, Speaker, etc doesn't obstruct the connection. No.5. Driver Update. Update the driver to the latest version. You must update from the particular website. If you are using Microsoft product, you must update the driver from the Microsoft's website. No.6. Different System. Try out the device on several devices not only one. If you still have difficulty, you can visit this site for more details. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/838398 Good luck

Door spring broke on Cruisinart CTO 350 series Toaster Oven

I had same problem with my cuisinar 350 series broken door spring. After disassembly found a broken extension spring measuring about 3/16 dia.,by 6.5 inches long.Spring was broken about a third down. I lifted ,or bended a loop and a halve up from each broken section and joined the two sections together. lifting each loop of the spring is tricky at first, requires a small screwdriver to be inserted between loop to be lifted and then gently bent the loop with needlenose pliers.
Not knowing how to disassemble the unit I had a hard time assembling the unit back.
I would start by taking off the screws holding the front black backlite first, then the main cover.
The main stainless steel cover does not have to be removed completely, by just gently unbending
the cover I was able to access the spring for removal.
Lots of luck

Black and decker cordless drill trigger

Ok, first check to see if the trigger lockout has been engaged, it's a small level at the top of the trigger ( I know this sounds silly, but it happens sometimes). Flip it side to side to see if you can hear the selector moving the switch inside the drill. If the selector moves freely without engaging the switch, you'll have to disassembly the drill housing to put the selector back into the lever so it will work.

Just take out all the screws in the housing and carefully remove the one side and look at the switch lever and make sure it is inside the slide selector lever.

If that isn't the issue, I'm afraid that the electric trigger/switch has failed and this isn't a part that can be disassembled and repaired by a DIY'er. I've attempted it when mine failed and found out it's a sealed unit and wrapped in a copper heat shield that dissapates heat when the variable speed is utilized and you end up destroying the switch housing in the process.

However, any DeWalt authorized repair center can do the repair for around $20 +/-, and if your drill is under the 3 year warranty period, it should be a free, warranty repair. Just contact DeWalt's customer service or your local Authorized Service Center (listed in phone book usually), or check the link for finding one near you.

www.dewalt.com or call 1-800-4-DEWALT (1-800-433-9258

Click on the "Services/Support" tab to get info. You can also buy the replacement parts if your drill is out of warranty (call them to verify before takin it apart!) and do the repair yourself.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Weak spring on honeywell thermo. won't shut off because spring reacts slowly... sound familiar to anyone?

Been in the HVAC business 20+ years and this is a new one. Helical (spring) type thermostats can not be repaired. If you decide to replace it be sure power to furnace is OFF before starting.

Microsoft wireless intelimouse explorer 2.0

Having experienced the same problem with (2) Intellimouse Explorers I analyzed the problem and found a solution after driver updates failed to correct it.

Remove the single screw inside the battery compartment, lift off the rear portion of the mouse top cover, then gently lift up the back end of the remaining shell.

Once you have the inner workings exposed, use a Q-Tip to dab rubbing alcohol on the right click button's micro switch, manually clicking it a couple dozen times to clean the button's inner workings. Do not work about shorting out the mouse, as alcohol is non-conductive, and non-corrosive. It will not harm the electronic circuitry.
It doesn't hurt to do the same for the left click micro switch and the side button switches as well, as long as the mouse is disassembled.

Next use a clean Q-Tip to clean the edges of the top & bottom housing. This is the most likely cause of the right click button failure - there are small particles of debris lodged along the edge where the travel of the right click button is supposed to depress, but cannot.

Next, turn the top cover over and move the catch on the right underside forward and push it gently downward to uncatch the edge of that latching clip. The click on the left underside is a bit more complicated and requires a gentle lifting of the rear pins and moving the left clip more to the left and downward to release it from it's locking position.
Once you have freed the actual button's cover from the rest of the top cover, clean it thoroughly with a Q-Tip swab soaked with rubbing alcohol.

While the works are exposed, check for hair and debris around the scroll wheel as well. The small plastic wheel cover lifts off starting from the read and tipping up and forward.

Carefully reassemble all parts and hte right click function should now be restored. The debris has been removed and the right click now has it's full range of travel restored.
