Question about HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

My C6180 also will not scan documents.

I tried hpqscnvw.exe, but had a $MfgAbbrevName$ scanning box come up saying "Sorry, could not find required user interface files. (Please reinstall scanning software.)" I have tried reinstalling several times and I am still not able to get the scanning feature to work.

Well this problem needs very grave trouble shooting with a lot of steps and it cannot be explained over here,

    first u need to see whether you are able to copy or not.copying helps you to isolate the issue frm s hsrdware issue.if it copies fine then try scanning from microsoft paint or word.these use the twain32 drivers not the hpqscnvw.exe.this would show if the drivers are instelled properly.If it does not scan from there then you would hve to uinstall the s/w and the printer drivers completely.....this includes deleting entries from the registry as well.

The problem is an incompatibility between Adobe Acrobat and HP Photosoft software... the solution is to stop using Adobe Acrobat software as your primary PDF reader... to see why and what is the alternative continue reading...

I had several Windows XP laptop/netbook/desktops running on my home wireless network perfectly. Then I had to replace the desktop with Windows Vista, and that's where the problems started. Despite updating the HP driver software, the Photosmart printer would not work with the Vista machine unless it was physically connected through the USB port. But this solution created a new problem with the wireless XP machines, they would now cause a print jam every time I printed a PDF. I had Acrobat Reader on one machine and Acrobat Pro on the other. Any other file format would print fine... I could print a PDF from within Adobe Photoshop... and re-installing the old HP driver software eliminated the problem (but then the Vista machine wouldn't print anything)... thus the problem had to be Acrobat.

With the newest updated HP software in place I uninstalled Acrobat Reader and installed a freeware readers. THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. I tested three and all printed PDFs to the HP Photosmart printer with no problem. I tried Adobe Acrobat again, and it jammed. These freeware PDF readers are all small and fast compared to Acrobat which is big, bloated, and slow.

My suggestion is to use Foxit, which is the easiest and fastest, and seemes to work as a plugin with all the browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome). You can get it from trusted sites like CNET ( http://download.cnet.com/Foxit-Reader/3000-10743_4-10313206.html ) or from the company ( http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/ ).

BTW, I do maintain Acrobat Pro on one machine because of the advanced features I use, but I configured it to not be the default PDF reader and print through Foxit on my home network.

By the way, ANYONE WHO SUGGESTS CONTACTING HP SUPPORT ABOUT PRINTERS THIS OLD IS BEING LAZY OR NOT PAYING ATTENTION... HP WON'T HELP UNLESS YOU PAY FOR THE INCIDENT, AND THEN THEY TELL YOU TO DO THE OBVIOUS (i.e., install new drivers) WHICH DOESN'T WORK, WHEREUPON THEY WILL SAY IT'S NOT AN HP PROBLEM BUT THE "OTHER GUYS" PROBLEM. Many people have played this game with HP before so don't waste your time and money expecting a different result.

Unable to create MSXML Instance


First we need to know the operating system installed in the computer.

If you are using XP. Then perform the steps given in the webpage.

the save as function is in the print/scan manager, not the software..you'll need to point it to where you want it to save, and also what format

if u have the solution center in ur desktop, right click on that... the go to properties then \click open file location... install/repair the "hpqtra08.exe" then look for "hpqscnvw.exe" right click on that then send to desktop, if u wan to scan just click on that icon on ur desktop the "hpqscnvw.exe

Can't scan from printer or computer


Close the Digital Imaging Monitor.
◄ Start or restart the services :
1. HP Cue Device Discovery.
2. HP Net Device Discovery.
3. HPQCS08.
◄ Run Digital Imaging Monitor.
◄ Wait for a Minute, if the configuration screen appears it is done else refresh the HP Cue Device Discovery
◄ Restart the Printer
◄ 99% chances of resolution and in the other cases a proper uninstall and reinstall is needed

Scanner won't work but the printer does


Ok here is the answer you have all been waiting for - look on the CD that came with any HP printer for the mac and you will see that it is for 10.3.9 and 10.4. I bet you dollars to donuts you have the new 10.5 leopard software and you got the new printer for free from the apple store.

All is not lost - go to the hp website at www.hp.com and on the left side you will see a grey menu that says software and driver downloads click on it and type your product. The version right now is 9.7.1 once you get all the way through. DO NOT INSTALL THE HP INSTALLER FILE - it is the same as the CD.

Well on the off chance your using windows the same applies - delete the old software on your computer and follow the steps above. The version number you will need depends on what OS but just make sure it is the most recent and you should be fine.

Problem with c6180 when used with mac/leopard


Follow below instructions to scan more than one pages to a single document :

1. Open HP solution center.
Click Start - All programs - HP - HP Solution center.

2. Click Scan document - Click Accept.
Computer will ask "Would you like to scan another page?" Say Yes and scan the other side of the document by following onscreen steps.
