SOURCE: cannot remove toner cartridge from Brother HL 2170W

Had the same thing happen to me today. When you open the door to pull out the cartridge, there is an arm (less than an inch away from the green tab) on the printer which should connect to the door. When you open the door it retracts a wheel which releases the toner cartridge/drum assembly. This had become disconnected from the door.

You are nearing time for a drum replacement. Here is link to the Brother site for your printer. Be careful when purchasing drums - I made the mistake of buying an after market drum kit and after 100 prints was replacing it again with a OEM part.

SOURCE: Brother HL-2035 laser printer, black

Dots, Lines and smudges on the printouts are due to dirty/ deteriorating cartridge and cleaning the green drum of the cartridge may help temporarily. Take out the cartridge and gently clean the roller/ green drum with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth wiping off the toner dots marks/ lines.
Also, make sure that the visible inside of the printer is clean and ther is no spilled toner inside, which sometimes results in dots.
Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

GoodLuck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

Reset counter brother printer hl-6180dw

By 'Counter' do you mean Toner Counter or Drum Counter?

For Toner Counter - This is done by the gear on the side of the cartridge. The gear when looking at it travels counter clockwise lifting outwards as it passes over a mount in the fill cap. Starter Cartridges do not have the gear in place and this needs to be put in when refilling the cartridge.

For Drum Counter - Have the front of the machine open (As if changing the cartridge) and press the Go button on the machine till the display reads Drum Changed or Drum Accepted.
If it requires you to press the back button then it will have a message "Change Drum" with an up arrow and down arrow for yes and no.

Hi there,
If the paper get stuck inside the printer you can also remove it fro the back of it. Open the back cover and try to remove the jammed paper inside of the printer. If still the paper can't be remove try again to removed the drum and toner.
Open the front cover or pull down the cover right above the brother logo infront of the machine then hold the handle of the drum and toner assembly.Pull the drum and toner assembly towards you, just put a little force on it. Then remove the jammed paper.
Just to make sure, remove the toner from the drum by holding down the tab on the side and lift the toner out. Look for any small piece of paper inside of the drum unit. Reinstall the toner back to the drum. reinstall the drum and toner back to the machine, make sure that you here a click sound. After that close the front and back cover.
The blue light should lit up again.
Hope this helps. Thanks

How do I pull out the toner cartrige of a HL 2040

Front panel of printer (manual paper feed is in the middle of this panel) has tabs on the right & left and will fold out and down. The toner/drum is right inside. there's an opening in the middle to grab it and pull straight out. The toner will separate from the drum unit by holding a small purple/blue tab on the left side down, and then lift up and out. Reverse this when putting everything back. remember to shake the toner right-left to loosen the toner before putting back in the unit. To reset the printer, and with the front door still open, hold the GO-Control button down until all lights are on, then let go, close up front door. Power off & back on and you should be set.

How do you get the toner cartridge out of brother 2040? we have paper stuck under it

The toner and drum come out together, open the front door and pull the handle in the center straight out toward the front. The toner lifts off of the drum by pushing the blue lever on the right or left rear side and lift up and out. You need to inspect the underside of the toner and drum for paper scraps that could cause jams.

I consulted the Brother site again but this time I researched just how to remove the drum. This page has nice drawings that show how to just pull it straight out! They explained the blue button on the right is just for holding the toner in the drum. They also showed, a very important piece of information, where to place the hands as well. I did it slowly because the jammed paper seemed to be 'stuck' to it. It came out easily, with no real force required. I removed the paper and slid the drum back into place. Quite simple once I could see how to do it without risking damage to the printer!
