Won't start !! converted to 12v ,new starter and solenoid installed along with new coil, points, roto cap now no spark to plugs

Cranks? Check voltage to + side of coil, first. 10 V. OK.
Be sure that points open and close.SEE it as it cranks.
Points gap should be around .016 "
If you open and close the points, key on,engine off,the coil should SPARK!
Use a screwdriver to get a shock. Fun.
The coil will spark when you short the points, when they are open.

I have a 1948 8n. It starts and runs great when the weather is warm, but this year it won't start in the cold. However, if I let it sit in the sun for about an hour, it starts okay. I use it just...

The problem is the carburetor is not being choked. This tractor most likely has a manual choke. Do you see a knob which you would pull to choke the carburetor ?

Are you pulling the knob when you crank the engine ? If you are pulling knob and the engine doesn't start, the choke most likley has a broken or disconnected cable.

8N rpms keep falling

I run one number hotter plugs in my N tractors as they tend to foul plugs.
Glad it was a simple fix.

My 8n (6 volt) will not start. Great spark getting

Spark to plugs is great?.....but if they are black (carbon coated) it may not start.
Crank her over and use that choke for 30 seconds.
Pull the plugs ...are they wet with gas?Smell it water or gas.
They should be wet with something.
Are they dry.........No fuel.

If they are wet with gas and NOT black carbon coated and you are SURE you have spark..........time to tow it to start.
You want to turn the engine fast enough to have the crank throw oil onto the cyl walls. Engines need a oil coated cyl wall to seal the rings. The gas from flooding the engine washes the oil away.Put it back and it should fire up.After the first should be OK.
I've started many a engine that others could not start (flooded or sitting for years) with a little oil in each cyl to seal it.....but towing is the better choice if possible.

Ford 8N will not start when hot

This sounds like a bad fuel pump to me. The only way to be sure is to check the fuel pressure when cold, probably around 45 PSI. Then when it get hot it will drop way down to 10 or 15 PSI. Check the pressure if you can, or change the fuel pump.
