How do I fix and 97 GMC 1/2 ton with a 350 vortec. Runs great once running. Sat for 5 years. If sits more than 5 minutes wont start without shot of starer fluid

have you changed the fuel filter and emptied the gas tank and put fresh gas in? Stale gas will not start as well as fresh gas and there could be water from condensation in the tank.

This is usually caused by wear on the main bearings. To be sure it is actually dropping need to check with a manual gauge if so you can replace the main crankshaft bearings and while in there replace oil pump as you will have it off.

I have a 97 jimmy. my oil pressure drops when i stop and i have oil in it.its not low

Sounds like a cloggoed oil pump screen or a bad oil pump. I would flush the engine with engine oil fluch (can be purchased at any local parts store) change the oil and filter and see if the problem goes away. If not, you may need to invest in replacing the oil pump to prevent serious engine damage. Good luck

I have a 97 gmc sonoma and replaced the fuel pump and have no power now to pump. I found the test wire on truck and ran a test through the relay and worked, but pump still does not work. I have changed out...

It really helps if you post which engine you have and the 8th VIN digit. I ASSUME its a V6??? You should have 12 volts for 2 seconds on the gray wire (at the pump) when you turn the key on, If not, check the ECM/BATT fuse #9 20 amps, in the dash fuse panel. IF you do have power, then the relay is working and that is ok, If it does have power to the gray wire, then shuts off after 2 seconds thats normal. NOW while its running the fuel pump gets power THROUGH the OIL PRESSURE SWITCH. So get it running with your test wire, then disconnect your test wire. If it stalls out, then the oil pressure switch is either bad or disconnected.

97 GMC Safari. It is taking a long time to start. cranks and cranks... about the 3rd or 4th attempt, it will start. This problem just happenend.. One minute it started on the turn of the key... then, this...

Replace the FUEL PUMP RELAY. Its located in the under hood relay center. This relay primes the pump with the key on, about 2 seconds, then the pump will not run until the engine has oil pressure, then the fuel pump is energized.

Change oil light

It's a nag lihgt to remind you to change the oil.

To reset the warning, turn your ignition key to on, but not start. Pump your gas pedal three times quickly and the light will disappear for another 3000 miles.
