SOURCE: My start knob is a

Hi,
The problem is most likely in the start knob... something broke inside it...however it also could be a relay that is not holding in like it should...it is hard to tell what exactly is happening there with out getting in there with a meter and checking it out for sure...
The problem really should not be too hard to fix and not a lot of money...if you can find the exact problem.
One more thing... the door switch can also go bad and make that happen also...so check that out too....

Hereare a couple of tips that I wrote will help you to figure out why your dryerwill not run...

SOURCE: GE Dryer will not stay

Does the drum turn? when you press the button? Some of these have a broken belt switch. If the belt is broken the motor will run but then shut down as soon as you let off the start switch. I looked up your model and yours does have this interlock switch (broken belt switch) It might be the switch or a broken belt. themobilian_229.jpgthemobilian_230.jpgthemobilian_231.jpgthemobilian_232.jpgthemobilian_233.jpg

When I turn the gas on the knobs won't stay down, why?

The knobs do not stay down by design. It is a safety feature to prevent accidental turning. You must press the knob down to turn it from position to position.

Air Distribution Knob Broken

I think the air distribution knobs are all the same and can be removed by just pulling them. What I suggest is to interchange 2 knobs and turn them. If the problem follows the knob, look inside and see if it's stripped or cracked. If the problem stays at the original position, then you may have a defective switch. Let me know if this helps!

Coils Stay On When Dryer Is Not Running

This is definitely a safety issue and should be referred to Sears. There may be a corrective repair that can and should be made.

I HAVE A GE DRYER DBXR453GA2WW. We replaced the belt. The start knob is missing but we can still get it turn on by manual turning the apparatus underneath the knob. However, the dryer will not stay on.

If the dryer starts but will not stay running, the cientrifugal switch in the motor is likely faulty. The motor will probably need to be replaced.

No hot air

If you have a pilot light (small flame) you can try to re-light it by turning the knob on the gas valve to the pilot position and pushing the knob down while lighting the pilot, you may have to hold the knob down for up to 30 seconds before releasing it. The pilot should stay lit and then turn the knob to the on position. If the pilot will not stay lit or the main burner will not light it could be the gas valve or the temperature sensor.

Stops during cycle

Maybe. Will the unit restart in the same position or do you have to move it? If it will work in the same position and all you're doing is waiting for a bit of cooldown...it could be a defective high limit switch that is resetting. If it will restart only after you move the timer, then change out the timer. This is a bit of a mystery since timers generally don't have 'dead spots'...they are designed differently than that.

Maytag dryer PYE3300AYW Continuously runs

jefo, it sounds to me like your timer is not advancing. Does it move at all or stay in place? In what you are saying it will stop when you turn it to off, I would think it could be the timer that is the problem. Part # 53-1810.
