Question about Cub Cadet Street Sign- tractor lawn riding mower parts

1 Answer

My Cub Cadet 2185 only runs about 10 minutes then dies. Engine area is very hot. I have cleaned everything very well and put in a new fuel filter. Fuel pump is working.

Thank you for the advice, rscamaro73. The fuel line was close to the engine, so we moved it. We also just now purchased a new air cleaner at the Cub Cadet service center. The old one was very, very dirty. After we put on the new air cleaner, we will give the mower a try to see if there is any improvement. Will let you know.

    Thanks again.

Inspect the inside of the fuel tank, where the fuel exits the tank. There might be dirt/crud clogging the line. Also, if the fuel line is too close to any exhaust pieces, or is against the engine, it will boil the fuel and cause it to vapor lock (and stall out). Look for these items and hopefully it will cure your issues. Also clean off all dried grass/dust from intake screens. Also check your oil level. Make sure its in the good range, not over or under filled.

I've got 2 different John Deere's I got stuck working on and trying to make them last as long as I can. So far its been belts, batteries, coils, blades, and your regular maintenance items as well. Did get some brake work done on the smaller one but the bigger one needs deck adjustment work and a new deck pulley. I've been playing with mowers for years....just getting back into it again. Some of these same things work the same for autos :) Hope it all works out nice for you.
One LAST thing though - run some carb/fuel injector cleaner in the fuel tank, as you might need the carb cleaned out. Worst case is the float needs replacing in the carb.
Another thought that just crossed my mind is maybe an electrical component is getting hot and shorting itself out after it reaches a certain temp, and once it cools off makes it ok again. I would have to inspect it and look it over carefully to trouble shoot it and get a final answer though.

Cub Cadet lawn tractor with Courage engine-sputters and dies after gets hot. Might run 45 min. or only 5 min

An engine that splutters and dies generally indicates a fuel delivery problem. I'd do the simple things first - change the fuel filter, check for collapsed fuel hoses, use a "complete fuel system" cleaner additive and check for a blocked breather in the fuel cap/tank. The latter is the easiest to try to fix (temporarily); just run with the fuel filler cap slightly loose and see if the problem goes away.

2008 cub cadet rzt 50 run for 20 min than dies while mowing put new pump on, new fuel filter, new air cleaner, new plugs. has a 22hp kawasaki engine. fuel lines clear

When it stalls out did you check the spark? I suspect the engine is losing spark due to an ignition system failure.

I have a Cub Cadet Model 364 with a 18 H.P Briggs & Stratton motor. It runs fine for about 20 minutes. Than starts hesitating. Like the motor wants to stall out. Help!

Firstly, try to run the engine without cap on the fuel tank. If it stays running well, clean out the ventilation hole in the fuel cap ( or replace the fuel cap ).
Check for dirt in the fuel tank, fuel tank connections, hose, strainer, filter. Clean everything!

Check if you still have sparks when the engine stopped from itself.
Check if you still have compression when engine has stopped from itself ( valve settings too close )

The mower is a cub cadet it usually runs fine until warm and will die start idling up and down and then die every now and then pop like back will start right back if you lift the choke i changed...

I had the same problem , found out it was the coil was getting hot. I replaced the coil which was not hard , remove 2 screws an unhook 2 wires. You have to get the coil from a dealer , in my area anyway. Hope this helped.
