THEY ARE USUALLY NOT RESETTABLE, BUT AN OLD TRICK WE TECHS USE IS TO HOLD IT FIRMLY WITH BOTH FINGERS THEN THROW IT DOWN, SLAMMING IT DOWN ON HARD SURFACE 5 OR 6 TIMES AFTER EACH TIME TEST WITH A MULTIMETER FOR OHMS AND A CLOSE CIRCUIT , It has worked for me many a time

Where will I find the heat reset button on my tcm580 condenser dryer

Hello Mandy, I am not sure what you mean by a heat reset button; perhaps explaining what the problem is, I may be able to assist you. Are you referring to the dryer motor's overload reset button? As a safety feature, a dryer has a high-limit thermostat and either a thermal fuse or thermal cut-off fuse.

In the event of poor air flow where there is no proper ventilation to the heating element- the internal temperature of the dryer exceeds its high-limit, the dryer will shut-down; once it cools off, you should be able to run it again.

However, if the thermal fuse (located on the blower housing) or the thermal cut-off fuse (located on the heater housing) goes, the dryer heating element will will not heat up or the dryer will stop running altogether.

Please note, a dryer will have either a thermal fuse OR a thermal cut-off fuse, but not both.

By-the-way, there has been a recall on certain models of HotPoint Creda, and Indesit tumble dryers due to a fire hazard risk; I am sending you the link...If your dryer is manufactured by HotPoint model TCM580, then your dryer maybe affected. Read the info in the link- it'll give you instructions on how to determine if your specific dryer is affected and what to do.

How do i find thermal switch to reset it

Thermal cut-outs or thermal overloads are normally located inside appliance to the rear next too or around heater and best to get an engineer to help with this problem, only ones I know with switch outside are Whirlpool, WhiteKnight and some old Bosch Dryers.

Could be weak thermal cutout or actual problem with unit. Thermal cut out easy to check with amp meter. Connect meter as required to monitor draw as unit fills and make sure that it stays at or below usage stated. If amp draw stays below stated usage and thermal cuts out, replace the part. If amp draw goes over amount stated turn off compressor and listen for air leaks (usually check valve will leak back pressure to pump causing extra load on motor).

Did you press the System Reset button with a ball point pin on the front of the set? You might have a ballast going bad if it has never been replaced. But first, the reset button then you may have a thermal switch which is located just above the lamp housing. I test the thermal switches by unhooking (while set is unplugged) one of the wires and then putting an alligator clip jumper between the two wires to see if it last longer than the 30 minutes you mentioned. Lastly, there must not be any dust in and around the fan which can cause overheating. Sounds like you have an overheating problem initially. The thermal switch cuts the set off if there is overheating. And also if the switch is faulty it will cut off the set. Also look in the menu for a temperature setting if this model has a setting such as this.

I HAVE A CREDA SIMPLICITY T620CW WHICH CUTS OUT AFTER A SHORT WHILE AND WILL NOT RESTART FOR A WHILE. IS THERE A THERMAL CUT OUT ON THIS MODEL OR IS IT THE START SWITCH THATS AT FAULT? WHILE IT IS ON IT...

Hi,

Yes, this model has a thermal cut out and you are correct in thinking that this is the reason why the dryer cuts out and will not re-start for a while.

However, although it's possible that the thermal cut out is faulty, the more likely and common cause is a failed thermostat. If the thermostat fails in the closed (on) position, it means that there is constant power to the heating element. This will cause the dryer to overheat and the thermal cut out will trip to prevent damage to the dryer. A correctly functioning thermostat opens and closes to switch power to the heating element on and off to keep the dryer at a roughly constant temperature.

Hope this helps.

BElectric

If you live in Australia get in touch with a Bunnings Warehouse and ask for the Toolshop. they will be able to tell you. Alternatively you could go on the web to Bosch.com and find your model and get the answer or maybe even a downloadable instruction book.

Dryer gets hot and turns off timmer still going, wont restart for approx 20 min

there is a thermal switch it cuts out the heater element when its at temp. also so has a thermal switch that cut out the unit if it gets to hot. there will be two thermal switches or a combined one. it will have 2 to 3 wire on it and is directly connected to the the drum. one of these is the problem the thermal switch is working as its cutting out the unit. to stop a fire.
