SOURCE: Motor running extremely hot

You might want to check the brushroll. It may need to be replaced. The brushroll end caps on your model should come off easily and if there is a collection of hair, etc under them and you can clean it out, do so. If it is impossible to clean out, you must replace the brush. You can get one at any Eureka/Sanitaire dealer or warranty station. If you have a model 1934, you can upgrade to a better metal brushroll which won't give you as much trouble.

SOURCE: Motor overheating

There is a filter on top of the motor as well. You will need to remove the plastic cover on top of the motor with a small screwdriver or other flat blade. On the front, you push in the clip and pull up ont he cover. On each side of the cover there is another clip - to pop those you put your flat blade into the angled tab and slide it around to the clip until it pops. Gently or you'll break the tab. Once the cover is off there is a purple tab in the center pull up and you will pull the HEPA motor filter out - similar in shape and size to the side, washable, filters. Clean or replace that.

SOURCE: the motor is overheating and shutting off

Sounds like there is a clog somewhere or a filter needs to be cleaned if it has one. Or the bag may need emptied.

My shark vacuum is having problem 1st the hepa filter kept popping off I made that stop and now the brush won't turn what do I do

Usually a filter popping out means it needs cleaned or replaced. If the brush won't turn it may be the belt, or depending on your model it could be the brush roll or brushroll motor, switch, wiring etc. check these items.

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

Your Shark vacuum is equipped with a motor protective thermostat. If for some reason your vacuum overheats, the thermostat will automatically turn the unit off. Should this occur, you would need to restart the motor thermostat. Turn off your unit and unplug the vacuum from the power. Clean the filters and dust cup filters. Check for blockages in hose, accessories and inlet openings. Then allow the unit to cool for a minimum of 45 minutes before plugging it back and turning it on.

Shark uv208 turning off

Ok, it has a thermal breaker built into it to protect the motor from burning up.

9 out of 10 times it means either a blockage or even the main air filter is blocked--if filter blocked the motor overheats so.....

Locate the filter and if foam it will be washable--did one recently with this issue in another brand--instructions right where the filter is indicate to wash in sink etc and water ran black for several minutes, hope this helps.

Shark euro-pro x upright vacuum that shuts down every 15 minutes

These are prone to overheating. The manufacturer put a foam 'filter' wrap around the electric motor. This filter wrap insulates the motor, trapping heat inside, which causes overheating. The motor is very similar in form and function to the one in the Hoover Windtunnel, but the Windtunnel has no filter wrap. It doesn't overheat, and functions fine without it. There is a filter on the intake anyway. It's a redundant filter, and I have removed mine. It works fine now.

If you take the filter out yourself, you will need a special screwdriver for one of the motor cover screws. I guess they don't want the consumers opening it up.

I suggest taking it to a vacuum repair shop and explaining to them the problem, and asking them to remove the filter wrap from the motor.

My vacuum (shark modle #UV210BV) turns on but has absolutely no suction.

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

If the dust cup is too full, there is no space for the dirt to go when you are vacuuming. To fix this, remove the dust cup and empty it. If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt after emptying the dust cup, there may be something blocking the airway. There are two places where you can check for a blockage: the dust cup air duct and the intake opening behind the brush roll. To check for a blockage in the dust cup air duct stand the vacuum upright and remove the dust cup. Now you can disconnect the super stretch hose and check for clogs in the air duct behind the dust cup. If that is not the case, to check for a clog near the roller brush lay the vacuum down. Next check the opening behind the brush roll for clogs. If there is debris, clean the opening with scissors, carefully cutting away any debris.

Uncleaned filters may also the reason why your vacuum has lost suction. To clean the foam and felt filters, remove the dust cup and pull out the two filters that are on the top of the motor base. Rinse the filters with lukewarm water until the water is running clear. Let the filters dry fully before putting them back into the vacuum. If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt, you may need to replace it.
Unfortunately, if none of the other solutions worked, your motor is going bad. Most of the time a new motor costs as much as the vacuum itself and it is not easy to replace the motor. It may be time for a new vacuum.
