Hi,
Make sure the hard drive is plugged in and all cables connected, start the computer and go into the BIOS, while in the bios set it to default settings, hit F10 save the changes and exit the BIOS.
When the computer restarts it should be recognized, if not please post back.

Good luck.

Won't boot from SATA Hard Drive

Specs say it comes with a SATA hard drive. Go into the BIOS and check that it is booting to the HD as opposed to the DVD ROM? If it is, then remove the case and check the connections to the hard drive and from the hard drive to the motherboard. If they are all OK, then you need to swap out the hard drive for a new one, or at least get it tested on a system known to work. You may be able to recover data by putting the old HD into a hard disk enclosure.

You can also try booting to your windows media disk and run scandisk to the SATA HD.

Just check whether your hard disk is in good condition., what is the health percentage., It has any bad sector or weak sector,. before changing.,..(because if u use convertor it should work)
use harddiskscential for performance of your hard disk

What type or brand of hard drive do I have to get to install in Acer AM5641 Desktop ? I want to upgrade to a 1 tb hd.

You currently have a 320GB 7200-rpm SATA II hard drive, with 8MB cache install on a base package of your make and model of computer. I would recommend a hard drive like Samsung Spinpoint F4EG 2 TB Internal hard drive. You can find it roughly for $70.00 - $90.00 at online stores like amazon, new egg, etc.

I hope this helps.

Just put in a new hard drive in the SATA port 3 and my computer sees the device but i cannot find it on my computer, the hard drive is a samsung HD103SJ ATA Device 1TB

You need to go in the bios and turn it on so the motherboard tells your HDD controller that it is there. Another thing you may need to research is if your motherboards BIOS is able to read a 1TB Drive most need an update. IF you have no clue what I am talking about I can walk you thru it but then I will need to know what motherboard you have, also if it is a off the shelf pc or a custom rig

Acer aspire one after starting my laptop it goes to a black screen and says check cable connection..! PXE-E63: Error while initializing the NIC PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM. No bootable device-- insert...

The computer can't see the hard drive for one of many reasons.
1. Hard drive failure
2. Bad connection between hard drive and motherboard.
3. BIOS corrupted
4. Motherboard failure of HDD control.

Press F2 when the ACER splash screen appears and go into BIOS set up.
The first page should show the hard drive name and ID number.
This may be missing or have corrupted characters in it.
Go along to the 'save and exit' and allow a restart. This sometimes kicks it into life.
Replace the hard drive with a known good one and check to see if this is recognised in the BIOS.
Clean the contacts of the hard drive.
ACER fitted both types of hard drive to this model, either PATA (IDE) or SATA.

Why my acer e500 cannot install 64 bit window 7 it say no driver when need to choose hard disk to install

you need to install Uli sata drivers in order for your motherboard to recognize the harddrive and cd drive.

download the drivers here: http://www.soft32.com/download_184082.html

and put them on a cd or memory card, when the system prompts you that you have no harddrive, you can load the drivers from a memory card or cd however if you use a cd you will face other issues. then you will be able to install windows 7 ;)

I did it on my acer e500 and it runs good.
I didn't install the 64 bits version though but the 32 bits.

for all the people saying that his pc is too old: if the pc can run under vista, it runs better under windows 7

Try to discinnect CD/DVD driver also when you power on main cor dont instantly power on case, wait 5 minutes and then try. Such kid of failureas are causer by power adaptor system. Also try bios reset put off battery and wait 5 minutes to reset CMOS also power cord must be unpluged. Unplug and plug power sources to mainboard. then turn on.

Install Xp on Acer Asprie 5735z

I'd reccomend backing up data and formatting your hard drive. Then install XP from disk and put data back on hard drive. You could use external hard drive or jumpdrive. It stands to reason that SATA works with XP, because the new computers I have seen have SATA and XP working conflict-free.
