How to clean the grill and drip pan and get the grease and burnt on grease removed without hurting the finish on grill, lid/cover, drip pan, and the heat element
If you have a great amount of caked on grease build up, using a plastic putty knife is a good way to go. It won't scratch the finish and will remove the lion's share of the grease. Follow that, by scrubbing the remaining residue with a wet sponge and Simple Green in a spray bottle (it's biodegradable and won't hurt the finish.? Spray the Simple Green on, wait a minute or two and wipe of with a wet sponge. Rinse the sponge often Do not wet the heating element/burner. Use a grill brush to gently remove any any residue. Actually, it's best to remove the burner to clean it, because it also gives you the opportunity to clean the Venturi valve. As far as the drip pan is concerned, the plastic putty knife will work there too. In the future, lining the drip pan with aluminum foil, will eliminate having to clean it.
The grill grates can go in the dishwasher. Just do not allow them to go through the dry cycle.
My best advice on keeping a grill clean, is stay a head of the cleaning. Not allowing grease and residue to continue to build up. I say this, both as a grill dealer and as an avid professional grill-er.
