I have the symbol "VCT D'' shows in my calculator and not allows me to do fractions, how to solve this problem


These two are unrelated. The D indicates that the angular mode is set to degrees. To change this, press SHIFT [SETUP] and select 4 for radians or 5 for grads. One of the D, R, or G indicators will always be lit.

The VCT indicates that you're in the vector mode. To get out, press MODE 1.

Over-******** timing is detected. The PCM detected that the Variable Cam Timing "VCT" position indicated that the camshaft timing was over-******** when compared to a calibrated limit
Possible causes are::- Camshaft timing improperly set. - No oil flow to piston chamber. - VCT (variable cam timing) solenoid stuck open. - Camshaft advance mechanism binding (VCT unit).

Where is vct solenoid


Hi there:A code P0012 refers to the VVT (Variable Valve Timing) or VCT (Variable Camshaft Timing) components and the car's PCM (Powertrain Control Module, also called an ECM).
That consists of a few different components but the P0012 DTC specifically refers to the camshaft (cam) timing. In this case, if the cam timing is over-********, the engine light will be illluminated and the code will be set. The "A" camshaft is either the intake, left, or front camshaft.


A P0012 DTC trouble code may be caused by one or more of the following:

- Incorrect camshaft timing

- Wiring problems (harness/wiring) in intake timing control valve control solenoid system

- Continuous oil flow to VCT piston chamber

- Failed timing valve control solenoid (stuck open)



On Ford, the VCT solenoid is located at top of cylinder head underneath the valve cover and goes around one camshaft. You will need to remove the valve cover, the timing cover, then remove the timing belt, the camshaft sprockets, and finally the camshafts to remove the vct solenoid as it goes around the camshaft. You can use 2001-2003 models with same engine.



VCT or Variable Cam Timing solenoid is a device used in modern engines to change camshaft position timing in relevance to engine speed and engine timing allowing the engine to produce more horsepower without adding excessive overlap to the camshaft design.


The way the VCT Solenoid works is as follows:
The VCT solenoid works with oil pressure, it receives a signal from the ECM when the camshaft needs to be rotated either in the advanced mode or ******** mode depending on engine load and speed.The VCT solenoid is able to accomplish that by altering the oil flow in the passages that lead to the cam phaser(s), there are passages to advance the valve timing ( open the valves earlier), and passages that direct the oil to ****** the valve timing ( open them later)

The purpose of the VCT or Variable Cam Timing system is to allow the engine to move larger volumes of air in and out of the cylinders to generate maximum horsepower.
Vehicles with DOHC ( Dual Overhead Cam ) engines usually have two VCT solenoids mounted in each cylinder head, one for each camshaft, allowing the Engine Control Computer to activate each VCT timing mechanism in each Camshaft separately.
NOTE: The Cam phaser is mounted on the front of the camshaft(s) it is driven by the engine's timing chain or timing belt depending on the engine's design.

Hi.

P1383 is one of Jaguar's own codes. You can find the code even in other engines (e.g. Ford). P1383 means : Variable Cam Timing Overretarded (Bank #1).

Symptoms:Rough idle, engine stalling.

Here possible causes:

  • Cam timing improperly set.
  • Continuous oil flow to the VCT piston chamber.
  • VCT solenoid valve stuck open.
  • Camshaft advance mechanism binding (VCT unit).

  • Solution: the part in the Variable Cam Timing listed above must be tested and repaired.

    P 1383 cougar 2000


    P 1383 Variable Cam timing over-retarded (Bank 1) meaning the comprehensive component monitor (CCM) monitors the VCT position for over - retarded camshaft timing . The test fails when when the camshaft timing exceeds a maximum calibrated value or remains in an retarded position.
    Cause :
    * Cam timing imprperly set * Continuous oil flow to the VCT piston chamber
    * VCT solenoid valve stuck open.
    * Camshaft advance mechanism binding (VCT UNIT)

    Ther first code ECM-6805 TURBOCHARGER (TC) CONTROL VALVE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INFORMATION If engine speed (RPM) is above 3500 rpm and the engine is operating at a high load, and if the boost pressure (from the boost pressure sensor) is higher than a designated value, which at maximum boost pressure is approximately 20kPa (2.9psi) above normal boost pressure, this is interpreted as a fault and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-6805 is stored. Condition reduced boost pressure Possible source * hoses between turbocharger (TC) and turbocharger (TC) control valve respectively turbocharger (TC) control valve and pressure servo are loose or are blocked/damaged * faulty turbocharger (TC) control valve * faulty boost pressure control (BPC) valve pressure servo * sticking boost pressure control (BPC) valve Condition * none ECM-6805 TURBOCHARGER (TC) CONTROL VALVE PRESSURE TOO HIGH - PERMANENT/INTERMITTENT FAULT Checking the hoses and turbocharger (TC) control valve Check that the hoses between the intake manifold, pressure regulator and turbocharger (TC) control valve are not trapped, blocked or damaged. Check the turbocharger (TC) control valve by activating it. Check the alignment of the boost pressure control (BPC) valve pressure servo and the boost pressure control (BPC) valve and that they are functioning correctly and not sticking according to See: Component Tests and General Diagnostics\Boost Pressure Regulator, Checking/Adjusting Verification Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied. * Ignition off. * Reinstall connectors, components etc. * Disconnect the VCT 2000 from the data link connector (DLC). * Test drive the car and check that high boost pressure is obtained. * Connect the VCT 2000 to the data link connector (DLC). NOTE: Do not switch off the ignition before the VCT 2000 has been connected and the boost pressure has been tested with the smart tool. Read the boost pressure fault status When the boost pressure has been tested the display should show that the diagnostic is complete. the second code Symptoms You will likely not notice any serious drivability problems, although there may be symptoms. Possible Solutions The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back. Then start with the cheapest, easiest repair procedures: Inspect for the following conditions: An incorrectly routed harness--Inspect the harness of the MAF sensor in order to verify that it is not routed too close to the following components: - The secondary ignition wires or coils - Any solenoids - Any relays - Any motors A low minimum air rate through the sensor bore may cause this DTC to set at idle or during deceleration. Inspect for any vacuum leaks downstream of the MAF sensor. A wide open throttle (WOT) acceleration from a stop should cause the MAF sensor g/s display on the scan tool to increase rapidly. This increase should be from 6-12 g/s at idle to 230 g/s or more at the time of the 1-2 shift. If the increase is not observed, inspect for a restriction in the induction system or the exhaust system. The barometric pressure (BARO) that is used in order to calculate the predicted MAF value is initially based on the MAP sensor at key ON. When the engine is running the MAP sensor value is continually updated near WOT. A skewed MAP sensor will cause the calculated MAF value to be inaccurate. The value shown for the MAP sensor display varies with the altitude. With the ignition ON and the engine OFF, 103 kPa is the approximate value near sea level. This value will decrease by approximately 3 kPa for every 305 meters (1,000 feet) of altitude. A high resistance on the ground circuit of the MAP sensor can cause this DTC to set. Any loss of vacuum to the MAP sensor can cause this DTC to set. the third code O2 sensor failure may not be displayed appropriatly
