hi u need 3 things for a motor to run spark petrol and compression buy a new plug earth it on the side of the motor with lead on it and pull the cord to check spark///// next pull the cord with youre finger over plug hole to check for compression and last check for petrol in carby it might need a clean ......good luck. .
take off cap then take out old pull cord once done get a cord long enough some will hanging out when recoil rewinds rope next there is hole in rewind pulley make sure you find it then hard part rewind spring on recoil till it stop hold tight the unwind 2 winds hold on tight next slip cord trough houseing and through pull hole put screw driver threw holes in threw rehousing that will hold in place the pulley not the cord take a lighter heat the cord up this will keep the knot in place grab cord remove screw driver from houseing hold cord tight pull cord until knot is seated next two pulley slowly let reciol wind rope in until it stops should be cord hanging out grab hiold of cord next to recoil hole pull out for two pulley revolution hold there install handle on rope tie knot heat knot with lighter your done cut off excess rope reinstall cap and completey down let me no if you have problem i will help im the red neck i like helping people
There should be no need to remove the flywheel (fans?) to repair the starter cord. The starter mechanism should have come free of the left side housing so that everything you need to deal with is in that package. Did the cord break, or just pulled the cord free of the spool inside? If the cord broke, then buy a replacement cord (about 1-meter in length) of the same size and material (no cotton cord). Thread the cord into the spool center where there is a hole for the inside part of the cord and bring the end out of the hole. Melt the cord end, and then tie an overhand knot in the cord. Pull the knot back tight and proceed to wind the cord in a CCW direction around the spool until you have about most of it wound. Pull on the cord to wind the internal spring several turns and wedge the spool so that it won't unwind the spring. Wind the balance of the cord until you have about 8" left--feed that end through the outer hole and into the handle. Melt the cord end, then tie an overhand knot in it. Stuff the knot into the handle cavity and remove the spool wedge. Try the cord several times to make sure the spring pulls it back firmly and allows ample cord pull-out. Hope this helps!
Go to a hardware store and ask them if they have ant bulk pull starter rope. Buy about 3 feet or so of the small stuff (it is only 30 or 40 cents a foot, cheaper that the kits) Remove the motor cover with the pull start and turn it so you can see the wheel inside. Remove the knot that held the old rope in the handle and then cut the knot on the starter wheel and pull out the tag left in there. Now the fun part. The wheel is spring loaded and the spring has no tension on it after the rope broke. Wind it up like a clock spring until it is tight then back off until the holes where the cord goes line up. Stick a small screw driver, nail, ect in the slot to keep it from unwinding . Do not tie the handle to the cord yet. Slide the new cord through the hole in the cover and wheel and then tie a knot in the cord and pull it snug in the wheel. Hold the rope and remove the pin and let the cord slowly wind itself up. Run the cord through the hole in the handle, Adjust to the length of pull you want and tie another knot. Reinstall the motor cover (if it binds and wont go on, pull the rope just a little bit to line up the crank with starter wheel and it will slide down.)
It sounds a bit windy but it really is a simple fix.
This works best with two people. Remove cover and pull cord will be inside cover. If your handle on pull cord is attatched to a metal ring up on the handle, you will need 8 foot of new pull cord.
With all the old cord removed, wind cord pulley 6 revolunations, now, have someone hold the pulley, while you string the new cord thru pulley and out the cord hole on cover. Be sure to put a knot on the end going thru pulley. Draw cord all the way thru and out of the cover. Attatch the handle and let it rewind. You will have extra cord, this will be used up going from engine up the handle. I hope this helps

replacement mover cord. remove the cover off the of the mover. remove
the old cord and wind the new on on to the spindle. remembering to load
through the top cover hole first.then place the cover back on. next put
the pull handle on and give it a go.

okay,after you have dissembled replace pull cord set aside now place the spring into the casing by catching the end into the retaining slot and wind it down into the casing hang onto to it now feed the cord end thru the hole afix handle onto cord then place into casing make sure that the spring and cord pulley dog together now holding pulley down in casing pull alittle cord out between case housing and pulley and preload spring by turning pulley around with cord 4 to 6 times secure pulley you should be all set good luck
