Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

Thermostat won't work in cooling mode or fan ON mode

I installed a new Honewell RTH230B programmable thermostat last fall, and it worked through the winter fine. Now that I need cooling I can't get it to start the A/C. The fan will not run in the ON position, either.

I checked my wires against the board in the furnace (Rh to R, Rc to C, Y to Y, W to W, G to G), and re-connected all terminals. Display shows cooling icon, but no action from unit.

    Problem turned out to be a blown fuse in the furnace. No $ saved.

The fuse blew fior a reason, this would be the thermal limiter fuse correct, make sure the condensor fan is not running slow, also make sure the condensor coils are clean. or the fuse will blow again.

If the air conditioning is in use, a snowflake will appear, it seems like you are having trouble programming the thermostat or your aircon is shot

The customer care department can be accessed by calling 800-468-1502

    It is a possibility that it hasn't been programmed for Cooling

    or it hasn't been wired for cooling to your air con only to your furnace for heating

    Try calling Honeywell Customer Care at 1-800-468-1502 ok

Typically the four thermostat wires are:

R = power (or common)
G= FAN
W = Heat
Y = Cool

Assuming that you have a normal electric or gas furnace and air conditioning, if the heat really is coming on, then just switch the position of the the Yellow and White wires.

Honeywell RTH230B will not call for heat.

On a call for heat an internal switch should connect Rh and W, if it does not the stat is bad. Try it with no wires connected.

RTH230B thermostat not working - nothing's happening

The 2nd combination is correct (w/ jumper). Wire nut or tape the blue wire. The snow flake shows it's going into cooling mode after a 5 min delay. If the AC is not coming on then the problem may not be the thermostat. If you don't have 24VAC between the red wire and the blue one the problem is at the furnace or it's supply. If you do, then check for 24VAC between the blue wire and Y on the thermostat(after the 5min delay) - if it's there the thermostat is calling for cooling. To check the heat, switch the thermostat to heat mode and use the W(instead of Y) on the thermostat(after the flame stops flashing).
