I simply want to exchange a double dimmer switch for a double none dimmer switch, and I am not in a position to hire an electrician. I have wired switches before, but because I have fitted a ceiling fan, the re-wiring of the new switch is one I have not come across. Any advice you can give me will help, and appreciate your advice to get a proffesional in, but we just cant afford that. Thanks for your help. L Jones.

I strongly suggest that if you do not have electrical experience, that you hire an electrician

At any hdwe store or home center there are dbl switches available in a standard toggle or rocker (as they are sometimes called) there will be two feed screws with a jumper so power only needs to be attached at one terminal, and two screws where power exits, one for each set of lights. There should be a wiring schematic included if a boxed switch is purchased. The cover plate that is used is also used for a dbl wall outlet.

What kind of wall switch do you have? Is it a remote wall switch? You can't use a basic Fan/light control with a remote.

I'd like to know how to install the dimmer to light switch.

Go to your breaker panel and turn the breaker off that controls the light you want to dim. Remove the screws from the wall plate and switch. Remove the 2 wires from the switch and attach them to the dimmer wires. If there is a 3rd wire it should be green or bare this is the ground wire, do not confuse it with the power wires.

I bought a Hunter fan Model 21778 that uses 2 incandescent candelabra lights. Before installing it I called Hunter support to see if it was okay to use a dimmer switch for these lights (I had already...

They're right, you don't want to control the whole thing with a single incandescent dimmer. First of all, the fan-speed and the lights will all be controlled by the same dimmer setting (dim low, low fan-speed - dim high, high fan-speed) - and the dimmer's not rated to control fans anyway which can result in exactly what they said.

There is a Skylark control, the S2-LFSQ- where half the knob controls the light, the other half controls the fan. The only problem you may (and most likely) have is that in order for that to work, between the electrical box for the dimmer and the fan, there needs to be seaparate wire run for the fan, and a separate wire run for the light so that the dimmer can individual control both.

If that's a problem, I recommend the MA-LFQM-, which includes a module that you install in the ceiling with the fan. The wall switch it comes with speaks to that module, and gives you independent control of the fan and light without having to install new wiring. I have one of those myself, I've installed one in one of my friend's houses, and they work pretty well and then you don't have to worry about what wires you've got in your wall.

I need a pull chain DIMMER switch for my fan light. Only one set of wires supplies the fan and light. Surely SOMEBODY has a pull chain dimmer ??? Thanks. Bill

Bought three fans for the bedrooms, all hunters with pull chain dimmers. Less than one year and two of the three dimmers are shot. Can't find a replacement so I bypassed it. Remove light assembly and unplug 9pin connector. Remove black vented dimmer assembly by removing wire nuts and disconnecting the 2wire connector(black and white wires). Cut the 2wire connector off and save it in case you find a part someday. Wire nut black to black(hot) and white to white(neutral). You will disable the pull chain by wire nutting those two wires together.

Leviton slide dimmer switch w/locator light light comes on but doesnt dim

What sort of light is it , dimmer switches normally only work on Incandescent type lights not flourescent type.

Otherwise it sounds as if the dimmer function is faulty.
