The manuals for the 580EX and the 430EX say the following under "Reverting to nnnEX Default Settings": "When nnnEX is attached to an EOS camera equipped with a button, you can press it to revert the xxxEX's settings (except custom settings) to the default.

Reset default camera says busy

Give the camera some time. Don't remove the battery till the reset is done. I hope your battery was charged before you started the reset.
If the battery runs out of power, you must charge it comlpete, before putting it in again. I hope the reset went well. If not only try a reset with a fully charged battery.

How do I reset my canon xt EOS to factory settings

To restore fsctory settings set Mode t0 P, open menu at Set Up Tools 2 and selct Clear settings. This restores factory settings but I am not sure this is the answer to your problem. There are numerous reasons your images might be soft other than incorrect settings. I would be interested to know the outcome.

How do I restore factory settings or reset Canon MF8180c. No errors are displayed. Printer won't print on network or USB.

This unit should print on USB regardless of how the machine settings are. You will need to install the driver on your computer, available as a download on the Canon web site.
Setting up the unit for a network can be involved, and depends on how you have your computers networked.
`resetting' the factory settings will not solve either issue.

How to restore factory settings for Canon 580EX II Speedlite flash?

To reset the C.Fn settings on the flash just go into C.Fn mode and set each setting to 0.
If there is no C.Fn icon showing, the flash is at it's factory default setting.
Hope this helps :)

Speedlite 430EXII Flash not working. Batteries OK Everything functioning except that it's not firing. Took 3 pics yesterday and then it stopped working. Regards Alan Paramor

Does it fire when you push the test button (red light)? If so make sure the contacts on the lens and on your camera are clean. My speedlites sometimes don't fire after heavy use and I clean the contacts with a soft cloth and some methylated spirits or isopropyl alcohol. Hope this works for you.

I have a Tamron lense 18-250mmm for Canon. It does not focus with zoom use, iwith different Canon bodies , particularly with a focus on a light or low contrast point. Canon lenses do not seem to have this...

In low light situations, connect a speedlite flash to your body (e.g. 430EXII or 580EXII). These flashes emit a AF assist beam to assist focussing in low light situations.

Looking to reset to original factory settings

On the camera's menu system, under Setup2, look for the option titled "Clear Settings". When selected, you can either clear just the Custom Settings, or you can clear all camera settings, which restores it to the factory defaults.

Error code 5100

Here's what worked for me in solving this error code 5100 problem. Not only was I unable to print anything because I kept getting that code, but there was a thunking sound when the carriage stopped moving, and every time I turned the machine on it was feeding through one sheet of blank paper. I was about to go out and buy a new printer of a different brand because the Canon was unusable.
Then, fooling around with the machine's menu and settings buttons, I came across an option, I think it was in the Maintenance menu, to Restore Factory Settings. I chose that option and it asked me again if I wanted to restore the original factory settings, Yes or No. I said Yes, and immediately the printer started behaving itself. No more 5100, no more funny noises, no more blanks sheets of paper. It is back to its old self again.
That still doesn't solve the problem of spending a fortune to buy ink cartridges, but I just hooked up my old Panasonic 24-pin dot matrix printer to the printer port of my CPU (a ribbon lasts me a year and costs less than $15), and the Canon to another port, so now I can print the day-to-day stuff on the cheap dot matrix and use the Canon for the important stuff.
I don't know if restoring the factory settings will work for you, but it was the solution in my case. Hope it helps you out.
