Ya overheating of a laptop is but normal as made by the maufacturer due to absence of power fans to cool down the heat from the power supply so for that reason just take it normal or else it could be due to other factors like memory being too low.for the idea of being too slow you will have to meet a technician to increase the capacity of your memory

My laptop is geting automatically close after running for long hour

Overheating When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

HP Pavilion dv2610us overheating causing laptop to slow down?Is this because my laptop battery died

Hi,

Overheating is not caused by dead battery. The most common cause of it is a faulty system fan. If the fan has mechanical defect or has degraded performance due to accumulated dusts and particles around it, it will cause overheating. Overheating can cause system to slow down at first, then if you keep using it without minding the overheating problem, your laptop can freeze and shut down on its own.

Here are some tips for overheating issue:
- Use canned air to blow out dust and particles from the system fan.
- Do not operate the laptop in areas where the temperature is high, it will worsen the problem.
- Replace the fan if you notice that it is not working properly as before cause it will further damage the laptop.

Hope this helps.

Hello, i have a Acer Aspire 5100 Laptop which i bought in 2007. Recently i have started having problems with HD-Ready videos (720p). before when i use-to play 720p videos on my laptop it use to run...

As you say the laptop handles the video well in the beginning, then when it runs for a few minutes it has trouble rendering the video in sync with the audio.
The reason for this problem is that 720p videos need the Graphics card in the laptop to work hard, this process generates heat and this heat needs to be removed from the laptop or the whole system does what's known as throttle down.

It slows down to reduce the heat it produces, thus preventing damage to the system.

The solution to this problem is to clean as much dust out of the laptop computer as possible, use a vacuum cleaner. Turn the laptop off and remove the battery. Clean the vents, it is a good idea to raise the back underside of the laptop with a pencil or the like. Some-thing that will raise the laptop off the work surface without obstructing the vents on the underside of the laptop. By raising the laptop it will allow for greater airflow through the laptop, therefore reducing the operating temperature of the laptop therefore making it more efficient and responsive.

Your laptop shuts itself down, this confirms that it is overheating. It does this so it does not damage itself.
If it still overheats then you will need to contact a computer technician to give it a good through cleaning. To clean the dust between the heatsink fins. Possibly increase the fan speed or replace the fan.

Take care!

The above as over heated and seems to fail after about ten minutes of being on this is an intergrated card can it be fixed without replacing the motherboard it is in an asus laptop.

I suspect that your cooling fan has stopped working or the sealing mating between the fan surface and the CPU is not intact. These fans quit working because dirt and grime gets into the fan shaft and friction slows the fan . also if the fan gets accidentaly moved on the CPU, then this breaks the heat transfer tape between the CPU. This over heating causes the CPU to fail. Open the machine and observe if the fan is running correctly.

Asprie 3690 acts like it overheats, has no battery life unless plugged in, going to order a new one. but runs really slow on start up and shut down and through out programs. Can hear fan running, then...

The overheating is causing this. Still, if you think that battery is doing that, take off your battery pack and turn it on with the adapter only.
Overheating is a very common problem with notebooks, To solve the overheating problem you will have to clean the heat sink and the fans of the laptop.
If you need assistance on how to clean the fan and the heat sink, please comment and I will be there to help you out.

Overheating

Its pretty easy to tell when your laptop is overheating. Youll have those tell-tale red marks on your legs from where the hot bottom of the laptop has been resting against your legs.

Fortunately, most laptops will automatically shut down if they are over heating to prevent any further damage to hardware like hard drives and motherboards.

If you would like to know the running temperature of your laptop, download this little utility.

Hope this helps,
