Question about HP Photosmart C4280 All-in-One InkJet Printer

C4280 not printing colour

I have a C4280 that does not print colour. This situation has gone from intermittent to now, non exitestent colour. I have tried replacing the colour cartridge in case it was faulty. I have also followed all the maintenance and cleaning procedures - help!!

My HP Photosmart C4280 doesn't give correct colours when scanning


You can usually calibrate your printer. When you first get your printer you may have to run through tests. One of them is where you print out a sheet with multiple colours on it and you then scan it to calibrate the scanner.Scanning will rarely give a perfect representation of the actual photo or image but if you do calibrate it may solve your problems.

check to make sure your not out of colored ink ! the ink cartridge in printer may need replaced. good-day ! if thats not the case, just reinstall printer to computer.

Why can i not print in colour from my computer as it will onprint in black


I believe you have already checked the color cartridge.
I guess you have set the option to print only in Black.
You help you correct the problem, we'll need to know your OS.
In XP, you can right-click your printer in 'Printers and Faxes'. Select 'Properties from menu. In printer properties, select 'Printing Defaults'. Check for printing in Colour/black options and correct the issue.

Try printing a light stripes test page (Troubleshooting, print quality problems, troubleshooting print quality page).

If you do not appear to have many missing jets but the colours are all just wrong it may be that the ink has gone stale. Run a couple of head cleans and you should see the colours start to improve. If it is getting better, all you can do is keep running head cleans until you have replenished all the ink in the printhead well.

This problem is common in situations where a lot of black and white printing is done, with very little colour.
Alternatively, it could be that your wiper/cleaning blade is not cleaning the head properly and is smearing the different coloured inks across the head, or possibly that your printhead is leaking colours but I think the first solution should solve your problem.

I have installed colour cartridge 351XL and black 350 cartridge but my printer still says Print cartridges missing or not detected


Have you removed the shipping tape from the print cartridge? It covers the print head on the cartridge to protect them so they won't leak ink.

When you select 'Print' from MS Word, what printer is listed? Make sure it is the HP C4280 and make sure 'Print to File' is NOT checked.

Printer does'nt work with non H P cartridges


It is pretty clear that you have a defective color cartridge. Return it to your vendor for a replacement. You may have some success cleaning the contacts as shown here, but most likely you need a warranty replacement color cartridge.
