Hi

Most times this is a plugged defrost drain system. The defrost heater in the freezer section melts the frost and changes it to water, this water is suppose to flow down a drain system. If this drain system is restricted or plugged the water will leak inside the refrigerator. The drain system starts in the freezer section with a tray built under the evaporator coil. The water is funneled through a small hose into a cup in the top middle of the fresh food section ( not on all models, but this is the most common way ), from there, the water is directed out the back wall to a drain hose that runs down the back of the refrigerator into a condensing tray. The heat created under the fridge makes the water evaporate and disappear. Some of the cups ( in the top back of the fresh food section ) can be removed for cleaning. A turkey baster can be used to help clean out the drain system. Fill the baster with hot water and "blast" it into the drain hose to help flush it out. A piece of wire or pipe cleaner can also be pushed into the drain hoses to help clean then out. On a S x S style of fridge the drain system is in the bottom back of the freezer section and often you will have to remove the evaporator cover to access the drain hole. You can clean this out in the same manner as previously mentioned, but because of the water leaking into the freezer instead of the fresh food section you will have to remove the ice build up to clean out the drain system. For some reason Whirlpool has found a need to "hide" the drain hose inside the walls now ( Whirlpool makes many of the Kenmore branded refrigerators ) on there top freezer refrigerators. This makes accessing the drain hose to flush it out more difficult, no cup inside the fresh food section, no hose down the outside back wall and the only access is inside the freezer section behind the back false wall and under the evaporator coils.

Please do rate the solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Check the water inlet for filling up the water for making cubes. Most probably its overfilling, leading to water leakage, otherwise it should have got frozen inside the icemaker. Maybe you will have to make some minute changes on the solenoid valve to rectify it........spdeep

Water line in freezer to ice maker is frozen

You have a " seeping " water valve ( leaking internally ) . Pull the refrig out and remove the line AT THE VALVE to the ice maker . Use a hair dryer inside on the frozen line , until you can blow thru the removed line from the valve . Then , replace the water valve .

Ice maker hose running, not shutting off when ice tray is full causeing it to over flow. What can be done? Model CSX24D side by side

Replace the water valve ( pt # WR57X10051 ) . This piece is what the wall water line connects to on the refrig . Also , due to the age of the refrig , I would suggest removing the ice maker ( 2 screws ) and inspecting the inside of the mold for coating disintegration which would cause water to seep thru the uncoated aluminum ( or bubbled coating ) causing the ice maker to leak , but , appear to be overfilling . In this case , replace the ice maker instead .

Water leaking from top rear left of refrigerator and dripping on coil line in the back of unit. Inside is dry and no water on floor yet. Is it the ice maker connection? If so how do I access it?

You will have to remove the ice maker , to have access to the fill tube . Only 3 screws , hold the ice maker on . After removing , make sure the tube is not frozen inside , and that it is securely , pushed inside the fill tube holder . If frozen inside , then the water valve behind the refrig , where the wall water line connects to , on the refrig , will need replaced also , due to " seeping " , not closing completely , after filling .

No ice Ice maker does not fill up with water

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it freezes and dumps , then check the fill tube going to the ice maker , to see if it is frozen up inside . If it is , replace the water valve behind the refrig , where the wall water line connects to on the refrig . If the ice maker dumps the cubes , but does not refill with water , then the water valve is bad . If the ice maker does not dump the cubes , then replace the ice maker .

No ice instead water dripping down into freezer making icicles

If you have icicles, where are they forming at? If on the front of the ice bucket, then look at the dispenser shoot door is closing all the way. The way to check that is to look into the shoot while holding a flash light (or bright light) up into the dispenser from the front side of door. You should see no light.

Now if you have ice buildup around the inside of bucket, mainly from the ice maker to the bucket then you either have an ice maker that is leaking water or you have a water valve that is not shutting off all the way. Suspect water valve if you have ice buildup within water inlet tube on top of ice maker. Frozen water within tube is good indication that water valve is leaking.

Look inside refrig side of refrig, usually located on right top side of wall, you will find a tag with model number and serial number. Need both to get you the right part number for ice maker or water valve.

Ice maKer is not getting water but the water side works.

Your refrig water valve , has 2 coils on one valve . One is for the water dispensor , and one is for the ice maker . So even if you get water thru the dispensor , the other coil ( for the ice maker ) could be bad . The fill tube from inside the freezer to the ice maker , could be frozen solid , keeping the water from entering the ice maker . This frozen tube , would be caused be the water valve " seeping " , which means , it isn't closing completely , and drips freezing inside the tube . indicating a bad water valve . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it dumps , but doesn't refill with water , replace the water valve but also check this tube . If the ice maker does not dump the frozen cubes , replace the ice maker , but also check the coils under the refrig , for dust , lint , etc , needing to be cleaned off . The ice maker needs to be 5 degrees to operate , and dirty coils can keep the freezer at 6 degrees or above .

We have a GE Profile refrig, circa 1995. The ice

If you are sure it is caused by the ice maker or if it is not it can be fixed. The only way an ice maker would leak like that is if ice is blocking the inlet tube and when the water comes on the water is spewed in a different direction than the ice maker. Most times this is caused by a slow leak in the water control valve for the ice maker side at the rear of the refrigerator. You can stop the problem by melting the ice in the fill tube with a hair dryer and keeping an eye on it until you see ice beginning to build up there again. That would indicate a slow leak in the water control valve that is not closing all the way when off. The other reason for large pools of ice in the freezer is a frozen over defrost condensate drain behind the cover in the rear of the freezer and would require you to unplug power and remove the rear panel. I will try to get some photos and a link shortly that covers that problem a lot more in just a few minutes. Sea Breeze
