Question about Dishwashers

Problem with my Viking DFUD140 dishwasher

A few years ago someone asked" My Viking DFUD140 just stopped working. The control panel is still lit up, but the buttons for the various settings do not respond when pressed, including the start button. Has anyone seen this problem? Is there a way to reset the unit? Please help!" I have the same problem with the same dishwasher. Have reset and turned off breaker, wont work. Odd thing is that if it sits for about a week, it works. Have done this 3 times. Does that give a clue. My only guess is something has to dry out or electronics clear. Trying to assess if this 13 yr old dishwasher is worth fixing or should replace. Any advice appreciated!

There is no economic sense to repairing a 13-year-old dishwasher.

SOURCE: Dishwasher will not start

you can hold the start atop button down for 5 seconds to re set it or you can turn off the circuit breaker to the dishwasher for 20 sec. That should help. If not, it probably is a bad celenoid which a repairman needs to replace

Motor keeps running and we can't operate the dishwasher

Look for water accumulating under the dishwasher. It has a tray that will catch any leaking water before it gets to your floor. If this is the case the most likely cause for the leak is the drain hose (located behind the main pump housing).

No water, sounds normal . might be silenoid switch on inlet valve? vud140 viking dw

could be the water valve silenoid connection clip to the power source has been disconnected, 2) water valve is clogged with debris, 3) water valve silenoid has gone bad. I think one of these three things may be your problem. Good Luck

Viking Dishwasher Timer Dial not advancing

The timer has given it up.  The motor has probably stopped working or the gears are jammed.  You'll need to obtain and change the timer.  Generally, there are face mounted screws that may or may not be behind some covers.  Remove them to get to the panel that holds the timer.
