TORO LX500- WHEN SWITCH IS PULLED, I Have pos 12v going into both wires into the pto. no debris on deck, garage kept. ordered the schematics, looking for lead to issue.before they stopped working all together, I could pull switch in/out a few times rapidly, and it would mow again. Im leading towrds the switch, I'm just perplexed by the pos into both sides- like the pto is a closed circuit. thanks!
It won't be the switch then..... What you are looking for is a relay(black square box with four pins coming out). If you are getting power throw throw the switch and back out like you saw, it will be a sticky relay. Thats Y after switching a couple of times it starts to work. To completely be shore it's not the switch you need to put a wire across the switch, either un plug the switch and make up a loop or find a way to by-pars the switch. Relay will be the problem. Any car place should stock them.

If you changed the belt make sure it did not interfere with the wire that runs from the pto clutch, sometimes that belt can rub on the wire and wear through it,also if you had the clutch off make sure you aligned the steel retainer bolt that sets in the alignment hole on the pto clutch, this keeps the clutch from spring when disengaged if you don't get that pin through the hole in clutch it can push on the clutch and bind it.Also it may be possible to plug that pto switch in backwards. Also if you jumped the fuse out it may now have burnt the switch or wiring somewhere.

The PTO switch has failed. There is an internal spring and plastic parts in toggle switches that keep them in the actuated position. It's not practical to take the switch apart to fix it, but replacement switches are readily available - probably $12 - $20. It's a good idea to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery before you do any electrical work. Be sure to put the wires on the corresponding terminals of the new switch. Good luck! Please rate if you find this helpful, thanks.

Tou have a broken or loose deck belt. Not an easy DIY but medium and doable. Check the belt in the deck too (the one that makes both blades spin at the same time. This belt likely needs to be changed too.
