Have got the same problem! My HP Pavilion Zd7168 dont come up again after crashing during bootup. Curios about is that many button lights still burn when plugged in, although the main power button stays without any reaction at all.

Got that on one here. Seems the entire cover above the keyboard is warped and the power-button doesn't make it all the way to the switch on the mobo. With a bit of pressure in the warped cover, the travel of the switch is enough to hit the switch.

It's not my laptop, but I'd guess it was dropped, or the heat got to it. I don't see anythin UNDER the cover preventing a tighter fit. There are ONLY two screws that hold that cover on and not one near the switch

hp pavilion zd7000 is not working, no function, and no boot up?

This is an office laptop, and the battery (old) was run dead. On plugging in, nothing happened beyond a quick blink of all lights, then total darkness. Stripped it all apart, plugged it in, and the on AC light can on. Snapped the battery back in, and the battery light can on. Still nothing when powered up beyond a quick blink. After a while of being on charge, the battery (lightning bolt) light goes out. When the power switch is pushed, the power light comes on, and it all goes dead.

Re the warped case, there 6 screws that hold that piece of plastic in. Two on the back of the hinge covers, and four in the bottom. Then, it snaps out with some prying. Reverse to reinstall.

It's most likely your internal female dc power jack. you have to take apart the computer and replace the power jack. If you search online you can find others who have done this.

HP Pavillion dv9700 does not power on

It would seem that the power button is faulty, usually, this is because one or more of the four solder connections by which the switch is attached to the printed circuit has become detached, sometimes caused by pressing it too hard. Rectifying this is quite an intricate job requiring a lot of disassembly and skilled soldering. If you are in any doubt take it to a professional.

Power suppy ok but computer won't turn on

Try doing a power reset. Remove battery and power adapter, wait for 10-20 seconds then put the battery and adapter back in then turn the computer on. You can also try to remove the battery and just plug it in on the power outlet.

remove the memory, hard disk, cd writer from the laptop. then try to switch on again. do it using the power adapter.

if it doesnt come on then its an internal problem. you will have to open the laptop case and remove all parts for test

My laptop HP Pavillion ZV6000, battery started decreasing and wouldn't charge when the ac adapter was connected. I purchased another ac adapter thinking that was my problem. It didn't work. Now I have...

As others have said, the most common fault with the ZV series is the power socket. However, you mentioned the Lightning Bolt. This indicates that the battery is being charged and it should go out as soon as the battery is fully charged.

If the Lightning Bolt flashes on and off regularly, especially when the power cable is moved, then the socket is at fault and needs replacing.

You can check to see if the battery is receiving a charge by doing the following

1. Right Click the Desktop
2. Click Properties
3. Click the Screen Saver tab
4. Click the Power button
5. Click the Power Meter tab

This will tell you the computer's current power source and whether the battery is charging.

I have replaced several of these sockets on ZV5000s and I'm sure the 6000 will be similar. I would not recommend this job for anyone without technical knowledge, despite some of the websites that say you can do it yourself. You will need to strip the entire laptop down and all but remove the motherboard before the socket can be replaced.

Hope this helps
