Question about Panasonic Viera TH-42PX80U Plasma TV
2 year old Panasonic plasma TH42PX600B currently being used in rental accomodation and running off single mains plug with sky, DVD player + VCR. Sudden power loss and blank screen.
Would not switch on with no power light. Tried to change 5amp fuse in plug for 13 amp and red power light flashes on + off but TV will not switch on. Any solutions please?

it could have over heated you can try to reset it first unplug it for about five minutes and try to turn it on if that dont work the remote might have a set button try holding that down until the red light flashes twice, then turn it on if not then hold the power button down on the set for a good five seconds to see if that resets it. if none of that works you will have to go to panasonic .com for the reset instructions.with the red light blinking the power supply is most likely good you just need to reset i.

One of the circuit boards, possibly including the power supply has a critical failure. The power supply is in the protect mode. This type of set is serviced by board swapping, and then doing the necessary adjustments to match the new boards as required.
It would be best to call the factory authorized service for a quotation.
If the set is out of warranty you may find it fairly expensvie to service.

Alot of times capacitors on the power supply circuit board will go bad. They will bulge/dome or dry up which will cause this problem. Bad caps dont hold a charge, which is needed to maintain a voltage. The circuit board is two sided which makes replacing the caps difficult, and the board can be damaged and have to be replaced. Taking it to a repair shop may be cheeper and safer then doing it yourself. Having two-six caps replaced is a lot cheeper then a new board.

turn tv on and leave it on for a while. A light will flash for a couple seconds count the blinks and let me know they use a blink code to narrow down which board may be faulty.
