I think some cooling devices on your laptop stopped working which might have lead to Motherboard problem due to heating.

I have the same problem and after checking the computer I realized that what gets hot is not the mouse pad, but the wireless card. When I turn off the wireless card the computer works OK.

From your description of events and the current state of the system, it appears that the motherboard has failed. Replacement motherboards are available on EBay

Toshiba laptop a135 s2276 has started to run hot and extremely slow operating. What could be the problems? Drives outdated, cooling fan dirty etc. Henry

the problem might be
1)you might have placed the laptop on bed or any other soft material, which block the air gaps at the cooling fan of the frame. So always place your laptop on a rigid and flat material and check there is an air gap between your laptop bottom surface and the laptop resting surface.
2)you might be using the laptop for long time.you can provide additional fans outside your laptop(NOT ATTACHED to your laptop BOARD)

My usb ports stopped recognizing my plug in's. They work for power but my wireless mouse and iPhone when plugged in won't work now.

I have a similar problem with my A135-S2286. I noted that the mouse pad area got hot, but I found it was the Wifi card. After getting hot, the computer stops recognizing USB devices and finally the computer gets stuck.

Try turning off your Wifi and please let me know if it works.

Try contacting Toshiba, as it may be some sort of a harware issue with the touch pad or currupted driver, as you said it worked for two years running XP.
Good Luck.

Toshibba laptop a135-s2276 ,my mother bords smd chip does not work so display of screen does not appear

The problem is well known witht this model Toshiba - the problem is the fan stops working and then hence shuts down to prevent overheating - it does not take long once the laptop is hot. Without replacing the fan just reboot the laptop until you hear the fan start again on reboot.

USB PORTS DO NOT WORK

Turn off computer and try connecting an older mouse to the mouse port. If it works:

Right click Computer>click properties>click hardware>click Device Manager> click USB adapters. Then check to see if some of them are marked. Also you can click on each one to see if each is OK. Make sure that USB is enabled in the BIOS.

My toshiba satellite a135-s2276 won't turn on

A coworker used to work for Toshiba and said that this is common for the Satellite A135 models and under warranty the fix was a motherboard swap for a newer/updated motherboard. Otherwise the unit is unusable.

:-(
