More information needed. But first check the timers in the settings, most LG TV's when switched on by the auto on timer facility will automatically turn off after a while if no remote control buttons are pressed. (Prevents your TV being on 24/7 if you forget the timer and go on vacation.)

If the slot in the LG system is an input then it won't necessarily show a red light. The connectors are usually very positive though, so check that the TOSlink connector is the right way around, and that there is nothing in the socket which is stopping it from engaging.

HDMI is just one the lastest inputs for HD. Look on the back of your set for Componet input as this is also an HD input. The colors to look for are RED< GREEN<BLUE connectors on the back labeled componet.Also with using componet inputs you will need seperate audio cables for the input. you can use the red and white from your rca cables and omit the yellow. HDMI is only one of the types of input but is the best as of now for 1080P picture quality, But Componet will give you 1080i HD Quailty.
