Might just need the encoder strip cleaned, when it's dirty the carriage can slam the sides. It's the clear strip behind the carriage with dark lines on it. It's cleaned with a damp Q-tip.

When I plug in my canon mx310, i get the error message...check ink U053. The ink cartridges are in the machine, i have cleaned them and reiserted them, unpluuged the machine and removed the power cord....

Try re-reinserting the ink cartridge.
First make sure you are placing the right
color cartridge into the right slot.
Most Printers are touchy about the
installation of ink cartridges. If the
instructions say to press the cartridge
into the slot until you hear a loud click,
that's what they mean. If at first you
don't succeed, remove the cartridge and
reinsert it into the slot again and press
on it hard till it clicks.
Then your printer should work properly.
Hope this is of some help. Bud

I have never had to change the ink cartridges till now and can't find the manual. The site says that they don't have a manual for the MX310 and I can't figure it out.

Hello !

To change the ink cartridge(s) in your printer,

Lift the scanning unit (printer cover) with both hands.

Pull the scanning unit support down into place.

The cartridges will move into place.

Remove the cartridge.

Take the new cartridge from the package.

Remove the strip from the cartridge without touching the metal back.

Insert the cartridge.

Hope this helps.

I have error code 6A00 on my Canon MP600

error in the mechanism of the carriage lift...causes are pr lift shaft assembly , sheet feed unit and logic board....

shut off the printer first ,then open the cover and try to move just a little the top of the cartridge ( move it gently not to damage okay.. :-) ) coz it might be stuck.. see if theres a damp on peinter head, try to clean it with a tissue or cloth, then close the cover, open the printer and check if theres still an error

Alram light

Did you replace the Black ink cartridge or the Color cartridge, or did you replace both?

Facing the front of the Canon Pixma MX310, did you install the Black ink cartridge to the left side, and the Color cartridge to the right side?

Do Not reverse how the ink cartridges go. Do Not install a Black ink cartridge, in the Color cartridge holder.

If the Alarm light came on, check to see if you have an error message in the LCD. (Not trying to insult your intelligence. The LCD is the little rectangular Liquid Crystal Display on your Pixma MX310 Operation Panel, to the left of the numeric buttons)

Do you have the Pixma MX310 On-screen manual?
Start>Hover on All Programs>Canon>Pixma MX310>On-screen manual

Click on the Troubleshooting heading.
If you have an error message code, click on the heading ->
An Error Message is Displayed on the LCD.

Also suggest you click on the heading -> Problems Sending Faxes.

See if the information provided has a solution to your problem.
