Question about LG GMA-4020B Super-Multi DVD-RAM/R/RW&CD-R/RW Writer, Original Retail (DVDRRW4020B) Burner
When burning dvd using my lg gsa-h55n super multi-format burner, 30 sec. to 1 min after starting burn, the computer shuts down.Only when using the lg, memorex burner works fine. There is no reference to the gsa-h55n burner anywhere on the lg site.
Well, since I received a solution from MAXTRIXKHAN, I just wanted to check back with NCIX.com, and here is a recap of what I did, and what they told me...
After a few tries, I had to contact LG Customer service.
I tried to burn to...
-Maxell CD-R, no problems,
-TDK DVD-RW, no problems,
-Verbatim DVD+R, Computer hangs.
Well, I bought this DVD-Writer to replace my old GSA-4167B, and LG customer service told me that this DVD-Writer does not support the Verbatim DVDs.
So, if you have plenty of Verbatim DVDs, you should forget about this writer.
Maxell, Sony, TDK
Will have to send it back to NCIX

Try another DVD writer or disable WIN DMA for LG GSA-H55N (only 2x speed).

I found a solution.. Woo Hoo!! Okay, The LG GSA--H55N dvd writer has to have an 80 pin IDE cable! It can not communicate correctly with a 40 pin. The guy at LG told me that the 80 pin cables have only been out for the past year and a half. I'm off to the store. I hope this helps you guys out. I was about to rip my hair out trying to find a solution.. Okay,... deep breath.

Peopl4e i agree with robin guy you look for the cloned up driver in your sp[ecific os domains i think microsoft has a common protocol for the drive

yes... but you need to have a good ammount of RAM memory and Disk drive space to achieve that since dual layer disc are up to 8 gigs..

your DVD ROM lens has became weak.
and it cannot be repaired.
But if you manage to open the DVD ROM clean the dust in it & it will start working again but be careful remember that no power should be attached to ROM.
or you can buy a lens cleaner from market and try that.
pls rate my solution
