Question about Franklin eBookman EBM-911

My ebookman 911 does not show any menu.

After the welcome note there's no menu and will show only the drawing of ebookman with an arrow pointing to usb

First, Download and Install eBookMan Desktop Manager from: http://www.franklin.com/ebookman/download_software.asp
After installation, connect your EBM-911 to the computer via USB/USB Cradle. Run the Desktop Manager if it doesn't run automatically. Then from WEB Pulldown menu, run: Download OS/Applications. This will take about 5-10 minutes. When it is finished, You'll have the latest firmware and apps. Disconnect your EBM-911 and use it.

Install the drivers supplied by the manufacturer in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode.

First, restart the computer is clean mode. The Clean Mode temporarily disables all the programs that are being loaded during the startup of your computer.
  • Click start.
  • Type msconfig in the search box.
  • Click on msconfig from the results.
  • System Configuration Window will open.
  • Click the Service tab.
  • Check the box that says Hide all Microsoft services on the lower left corner of the window.
  • Uncheck all the boxes in the list.
  • Click the Startup tab.
  • Uncheck all the boxes in the list.
  • Click on the Apply button.
  • Click the OK button.
  • You will be prompted to Restart.
  • Click Restart.

Install the driver in compatibility mode.
  • Locate the driver installer file (Application file with .EXE extension)
  • Right click on it. Click Properties.
  1. Click the Compatibility tab.
  2. Tick the check box that says Run in compatibility mode for.
  3. Choose Windows XP SP2 (Service Pack 2). Do not choose Windows Vista.
  4. Tic the check box that says Run this program as administrator.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Click OK.

  • Connect the EBM-901 to the computer.
  • Double click the driver installer file to start the installation.
  • You may be required to restart after the installation.

My asus x42j will not let me log in. It comes up saying " The user Profile service failed the login . User profile cannot be loaded. What should i do? Is it the software or hardware?

It is a software problem.
When did the problem start? Did it happen just recently?

Please try to do the following to resolve the problem:

1. Please try to boot your computer to safe mode. You can boot to safe mode by doing the following:

  • Turn off the computer. Turn on the computer then immediately start tapping the F8 key repeatedly.
Note:
You must press F8 before the Windows logo appears on the screen. If you press F8 after the Windows logo appears, the Advanced Boot Options menu does not appear on the screen. If you do not see the Advanced Boot Options menu, restart the computer, and then repeat this step until you see the menu on the screen.
  • Use the (Down Arrow) arrow key on the keyboard, scroll down to Safe Mode then pressEnter.
  • Login to your User Name.

2. Use System Restore to restore the computer's settings to an earlier date:
  • Navigate to the Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools.
  • Click on the System Restore program icon.
  • Click Next > on the Restore system files and settings window.
  • Choose the restore point that you want to use.
Note: Check the Show more restore points checkbox to see more than the most recent restore points.
  • Click Next >.
  • Click Finish on the Confirm your restore point window to begin the System Restore.
Note: Windows will shut down to complete the System Restore.

My computer can't boot. I'm receiving an error message user profile cannot be loaded. I tried restarting the computer but the problem is still the same. Any idea how to fix it?

Am trying to sync up a ebookman emb-911 and my computer does not recognize it is connected.


First of all your computer has to be Windows 98/2000.If it isn't then you will have to try the steps below.If they don't work then you will have to ask a more experienced person.
Make sure that the eBookMan is connected correctly and is swichted on.A dodgy connection can stop them from working.
If you haven't already,you must download the eBookMan Desktop Manager which can be found by cliking here.
You may need to download Microsoft Active Sync which can be found by clicking here.
You have to sync it first so that the computer and the device can 'talk' to each other.Then try the Desktop Manager.
