I have a maytag MSD2754GR, the freezer bottom is all iced
I have a Maytag MSD2754GR, the
freezer bottom is all iced and water appears under the fridge, these symptoms
have prevailed for the last six months. Should I thaw out the freezer and
look for a drain that could have frozen and prevented the water from reaching
the evaporating tray? Why is the doorframe of the partition
between the fridge and freezer so hot?
Re: I have a maytag MSD2754GR, the freezer bottom is all...
The drian hole has become stopped up and ice has accumulated in the the drian hole. You will need to unplug the fridge and remove the cover on the back (located at the bottom, 6 screws). On the freezer side there is a drian hole with a rubber 90 and a clear line that runs to the drain pan. Remove line and unstop. Don't not put the line back on yet.
Now for the fun part, remove the basket and the two bottom shelves from the freezer. Half way up the back there are 2 screws that need to be removed. After removing screws pull up on the top cover to so you can remove the bottom cover. The bottom cover maybe froze to the coils and to the inside drain pan. Break the ice with a butter knife, and remove cover ( do not hit the coils). Now you need to break the ice that is froze to the the pan and under it. Once you have remove all the ice you will see the drain hole, use a small pointed object to break ice that is in drain hole. Now you can put the drain line back on and make sure that the other end is in the drain pan under the fridge. Now reassemble the fridge and plug it back up.

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.
You have a frozen drain. You need to remove the back panel in the freezer. Do not touch anything behind the panel and dont poke anything. You need to remove as much ice from the bottom as you can. Then use boiling water to pour in the bottom section under the evaparator,I would put a towel in the unit to help catch the water. Keep adding new hot boiling water until the drain clears up and the water starts to drain. It can take a while sometimes the whole tube will freeze. You can add a duckbill to the end of the drain hose behind the unit to help stop this from happening part number 8055306 Just push it on the end of the drain line.
Thank You and please rate my answer if it was helpful..
Remove the back panal in the freezer compatment to reveal the evaporator. You will notice the drain pan frozen up with ice. pour hot water on it or blow hot air with a hair drier. If the fridge is turned off the ice will melt and clear the drain hole. When the ice is cleared the water will be alowed to flow out to the evaporating pan under the fridge. Be sure that the water runs freely out of the fridge and allow a few hours to dry. Good luck. Be careful not to damage the evaporating coils.

Clear the bottom of the refrigerator so you can get at the
drain. Then get a turkey baster and fill it with hot water. Insert it in the
drain in the bottom and squeeze it cleaning the drain. Several applications
will solve the problem, and do not forget the freezer side as well.
Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees.
Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in
it and see if it dumps the ice after it’s frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let
it drop to see if it will start.
If it does dump the ice but don’t refill with water.
Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then
try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell
you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.
remove back panel inside freezer and there is a tray at the bottom with a drain hole in the middle. this is blocked with ice. melt off with a hairdryer and follow up with hot water till it flows waay freely
I have a Maytag side by side MSD2456D and water is running out bottom of freezer door onto floor. There is ice on the freezer coils and there is what looks like a drain tube with a plastic wrapping. I think water is leaking there and freezing on coils until it defrosts ice.Water then appears to run down inside of freezer and out bottom door seal.
Does any one have a suggestion on repair parts. How about owners/repair manual
Defrost drain system is plugged and not draining out the back and into the drain collector. There is normally an air trap in this drain line under the back and behind a fiber removable panel. Check this trap and make sure it is clear of any blockage. You will then have to defrost the freezer and clear out the ice. Don't forget to replace the back fiber panel.
