I got a set of Sony SA-VA15s from a yard sale. They didnt come with the 13 pin ribbon cable. Will the left speaker work without this cable? I tried to hook it up and nothing.

I cant get the left speaker working when I hooked these up. For the left speaker to work does the right speaker have to be connected?

SOURCE: karaoke speaker,no woofer or midrange working, only tweeter

Hi, it's probably that the 8" woofer and the midrange of the "amped" enclosure is open. One way to test is to remove just one wire from the inside of the enclosure to the woofer or midrange in question and with the use of a continuity tester (or a VOM), check for the resistance of the coil of each the 2 speakers. Both should read anywhere from 4-8 ohms, if there's no reading (VOM needle will not move) then the coil(s) are open. In the absence of a tester, a single AAA or AA battery would do (pls. some would argue that this is not a sound practice, however this should be enough for you to be able to determine the condition of the coil(s)). With the use of the battery and a single short length of electrical wire, apply power from the battery to the terminals of the speaker, if the cone moves, then chances are it is good, if they don't then you would have to replace it. Am not sure if available in your area, but there are some trained people who can rewind the coil should a replacement speaker be not readily available. Hope this be of help. Please let us know how things turn up. Regards.

SOURCE: hooking up Coby Csp-94 Speaker to HDTV "no directions"

The green, black and beige cable is non-standard and proprietary meaning that Coby has defined their purpose which hopefully is described in your user guide. It would be worth a few dollars to buy the properly color-coded cables to uncomplicate your setup. Buy cables (or cable sets) that have the same color coding as your TV jacks along with the cable suggested below.
There are several ways to connect to an HDTV system and these are normally standard as previously described.
The red and white are for right and left channels and it isn't uncommon to see a three cnductor cable with one not connected since one of the methods of connection is to supply audio via two cables, video (composite) via a 3rd which is plugged into a corresponding jack, normally colored yellow. Audio cables aren't really required to carry the mix of much higher frequencies of composite video.
If you have the following connectors, try this:
- S-Video (this does not contain any audio information and requires an S-Video cable) - Right (red) and left (white) audio paths.    The S-Video connection provides a better signal that gives you a noticeably sharper picture. This setup is selected from the TV's input source menu.

SOURCE: Brookstone Wireless Outdoor Speaker with Bose 123 System Problem

AUX usually refers to an INPUT, such as a CD player, etc. No signal comes out of a standard AUX jack, unless it specifically says "Aux speaker output". Instead, look for another speaker output jack, such as remote speaker, B speakers, etc. You may only have one set of speaker output jacks, in which case you would need to connect your wireless speaker to the speaker output jacks along with your main speakers, or buy a little speaker selector switch box to switch between main and wireless speakers. There's usually no harm in connecting more than one speaker set to the same outputs, though it is technically not recommended. In the real world, just don't crank it too loud and you'll be fine. The wireless speaker MIGHT run off of a standard line output also, if the wireless speaker has its own power amplifier.

How to hook up a Sony SA-VA55 tower speakers

This speaker system has proprietary cables for the front speaker set. The front speaker cable is available from an Amazon vendor: https://www.amazon.com/Speaker-SA-VA27-SA-VA29-SA-VA55-SA-VA57/dp/B01H2JVKNW . Cables of other lengths are also available.

See page 8 of the manual for the SA-VA55, available at https://www.manualslib.com/manual/461900/Sony-Sa-Va55.html . The direct link is https://www.manualslib.com/manual/461900/Sony-Sa-Va55.html?page=8#manual .

I hope this helps.

Sony SAVA-7 Surround Sound Speakers are on sale cheep at a thrift store, BUT no set up info is available anywhere. it looks like i have 2 wire a 14 pin connect cable between L and R units, as one has the...

Do you also have the AC power cord? If so, this should be all you need for operation for these speakers with the cable to hook up between them, it would also help if you have the remote control for them, but not absolutely necessary to use them. You could order the remote direct from Sony.

Sony SA-VA10

Hi, Have you been able to locate the cable for your Sony speaker system? Thats a shame that they would take just the cable. Anyways, I have the sa-va10 model just like you. I just upgraded to a new sound system. And I have the cable. Tho, I m sure somewhere on the net, like ebay, amazon or even Sony should be able to help you. I would call them. Those speakers are not that old, and maybe Sony still has a ton of those cables in stock. Esp. since the system is only around 14 years old. Relatively thats still pretty new.
